My name is Waseem Hassan Sheikh and I was born in Shahi Mohalla,Lahore. I opened my eyes in that place where the dawn was all about music while courtesans preparing for their dance and some of them used to learn singning from the Ustads (In Shahi Mohalla these ustads are known as Mirasi). From my childhood it was my aim to get out of this filthy environment. This smutty environment became part of my blood thats the reason, I am still having some genre of girlish attitude in the form of physical appearance and bodily postures.
In order to get out of this shabby environment I decided to get education so I can do something on my own. I wanted to be known for my own hardwork not by the label of Humans of Shahi Mohalla. For this purpose, I went to some renowned local schools of Lahore but they used to refuse to give me admission just because of my place of birth i.e. Shahi Mohalla. Onething here I want to mention is that whenever people came to know about that I am from Shahi Mohalla they used to bully me. On one occasion, A group of people just started teasing me while calling me a son of a courtesan and one of them punched me on my nose so that it started bleeding.
For a year, I became handicap in terms of my mind. The loneliness started to make me out of my mind while I used to cry like a baby while asking my Lord Why its me? Why I am born here in this filthy environment? Why people make fun of me and why these local schools dont bother to give me the admission?
My prayers were finally answered when I got admission in a local school of Lahore. After completing my 8th standard, I went to USA for the further studies as I got admission in Oxford High School,Michigan. It was all sponsored by one of my uncle who was already having USA nationality.
My stay in USA was the best time period of my life as I made a lot of friends belonging to different cultures, places and I learned a lot of amazing stuff. I polished my skills, I built my high confidence level, learned how to tackle negativity and critcism during my stay in the USA. I also came to know about my hidden talent after joining a course of Studio Production and Advertising. I always used to have creative and funny ideas regarding advertisement.
Once my course instructor Robert said to me Waseem you are made for the advertising business and you must open your own studio as you are a complete package when it comes to advertisement.
After completing my high school, I came back to Pakistan and got my bachelour degree from Punjab University,Lahore. During my degree, I used to work as a reporter for different showbiz magazines. From there I started making my links in the showbiz industry.
After completing my degree, I managed to have my own studio named Hassan Studio 1. Initially for the first six months I was not even able to get a single advertisement so I was not having a single penny to pay my staff salary. I started working alone i.e. One man army. Luckily with the help of someone I was managed to get an advertisement for the brand KIT KAT TELCUM POWDER. I hired an cameraman and called my one of my female colleague of Punjab University. I said rightnow I dont have enough money so I want you to work in my Ad. She said OK, Waseem for you I am ready to do this ad and I will only charge you Rs.5000 for working in your ad.
I wanted to make this Ad as creative as funny as it can be and my aim was to get this ad socially viral coz I thought this is the first and can be last opportunity for me to make myself successful in the advertising business.
I myself decided to work in the Ad of Kit Kat Telcum Powder as I was not having enough money to pay any male model. Finally within a week the raw recording of advertisement was completed with a punch line of Excuse Me! AAP BHI.
The local cable operator broadcasted my Ad and on the next day it was a bright morning for me as I just woke up and I was no more an ordinary man like before. My Ad went viral on social media and on my way to studio every single person was saying Ye wohe hai jis nay #Excuse Me wala Ad banayea hai (He is the one who has created the #Excuse Me (Kit Kat Telcum Powder) Ad.
Now I am a producer, director, script writer, model having a well accomplished studio staff while now my studio services are extented to tele-film, TVC, Video Songs, TV Seriel and also stillgraphy.
While concluding Waseem Hassan Sheikh said People still make fun of me, I know that there comments are based on taunts (sarcastic comments) and they wanted to put me down while insulting me. But I always have a positive approach towards the life that I learned while having my stay in America. Thats the reason Tony (Famous reporter of Fashion Industry) was talking about me in the Nadia Khan Show of Geo Television. The Geo Television called me and had my interview with them. Its mean nobody can ignore my existence.
