The following is the summary of the above report-
1. The main point being made in this report is that there have been no fatwas issued by religious leaders, Al-Qaeda has issued no threatning videos and there have been no violent street protest as was the case in the Danish Cartoon issue.
[No fatwas yes, but i think Al-Qaeda has threatned to kill Chinese workers in Africa] :|

2. Chinese government has been carrying out systematic policies that discriminate against Uighurs- :(
a) their language is forbidden in schools :(

b) Government employees cannot have long beards or head scraves and are not allowed to pray or fast during working hours.
[I wonder what sagaciouscorpion, taul and other have to say about this] ;)

c) discrimination in education, health care, housing and employment. :(

d) young Uighurs forced to work in faraway provinces. :(

e) Han Chinese are encouraged by the government to settle in Xinjiang, more than 2 million have already settled.

3. After 9/11, many political leaders were jailed, accused of having links with foreign Islamic terrorists. Many individuals and groups have been convicted and received harsh sentences. :(
[Obviously, the trials were just a farce]

4. Official death figure in recent violence is 184 dead. Uighurs claim the real number is much higher.

5.
Mullahs, imams, and assorted clerics found time to issue fatwas condemning among other practices, Pokmon cartoons, total nudity during sex for married couples, and the use of polio vaccines, not to mention Salman Rushdie. They have yet to find the time to say anything about China's practices toward Uighurs.
:x :?
6. Reaction of Arab world - "They have either been muted or their reaction has been too little, too late. :|

7. Reaction of Turkey -
a) Uighurs have close ethnic, cultural and linguistic ties with the Turkish people.

b) Prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has not deemed their plea as urgent.

c) Turkish government had earlier denied visa to Rebiya Kadeer, the exiled leader of the Uighurs. However, recently Erdogan softened his stand and allowed her to visit Turkey.

d) Ahmet Davutoglu, Turkish foreign minister, said, "(Turkey) cannot remain silent in the face of what is happening [in Xinjiang]." :?

8. Reaction in China to Turkey's statement-
a) On July 10, Global Times, an official Chinese press outlet, published an article titled,
"Turkey, another axis of Evil?"!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

b) it noted-
"After the riots in Xinjiang, many governments around the world are very cautious making comments, including the American government. But the Turkish government is an exception. As Urumqi is on its way to recovery, this arrogant country has never stopped lashing out at China. In fact, both the Turkish government and its nongovernmental organizations were harsh on China. . . . Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, 'We have always seen our Uygur [as] brothers, with whom we have historical and cultural ties . . .' "

Pakistanis are not speaking in support of Chinese muslims, because Chinese government will take no time in bombing pakistani cities if it suspected that Pakistan is supporting them. So they are afraid, and let me tell you one more thing they have no love for any muslim at all they are killing muslims in pakistan itself, in Balochistan, in Sindh, in Swat.

I accept that unfortunately the Muslim world has not spoken against China's genocide of our muslim brothers in general. Esp the Munafiqeen and Shayateen Saudi bastards. However, some Muslims countries have shown their rage. They include, Iran, Turkey and Indonesia. I hope inshaALLAH a day would come when the Munafiq puppet governments/kingdoms in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan would fall and we'll hear condemnation from those countries too.

Iranian clerics lash out at China over unrest

(AFP) Jul 12, 2009

TEHRAN (AFP) Iranian clerics condemned China on Sunday for "horribly" suppressing Muslim Uighurs in deadly unrest between the Uighurs and Han Chinese that has killed more than 180 people.

"It is true that the Chinese government and its people have close economic and political ties with us and other Islamic countries, but this is no reason for them to horribly suppress our Muslim brothers and sisters," said Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi in a statement to ISNA news agency.

"We strongly condemn this suppression and urge all Muslims of the world to demand in one voice that the Chinese government end this situation and punish the criminals."

China is one of the top trading partners of the Islamic republic.

Shirazi also took a dig at Iranian officials for remaining "silent" over the unrest in the Chinese province of Xinjiang.

"People expect that the Islamic republic's officials will not remain silent and take an appropriate step and not leave our Muslim brothers and sisters alone," he added.

The Society of Qom's Seminary Scholars, the top hardline clerical body from the Iranian religious town of Qom, also lashed out at China over the unrest.

"The Chinese government has called this horrible killing a tribal clash, but reports say that the government has been taking the side of one special racist group in this conflict," it said in a statement issued on its website.

It urged the Chinese government to "end this conflict by confronting it firmly and responsibly and by taking into consideration the rights of the Muslims."

The body also urged the Iranian foreign ministry to pursue the issue "diplomatically" until it is resolved.

Iranian officials have yet to issue an official reaction on the unrest in Xinjiang, whose eight million Uighurs have long complained about repressive Chinese rule, grievances which the government says are baseless.

Uighurs reportedly attacked Han Chinese in the unrest which broke out on July 5 and destroyed their shops but exiled Uighur leaders said the protests were peaceful until security forces over-reacted with deadly force.

Indonesians pray for Uighurs, condemn China "genocide"
Tuesday, 14 July 2009 12:31

World Bulletin / News Desk

Indonesian Muslims prayed on Tuesday for Uighur Muslims and protested "genocide" outside the Chinese embassy in Jakarta, urging China government to stop oppressing Uighurs in East Turkistan.

Islamic groups in the world's most populous Muslim country slammed what they called 'repressive' Chinese rule and called for freedom and rights for Muslim Uighurs.

Hunderds of protesters from a coalition of Islamist groups gathered at 9 a.m. and was to last until noon . A group spokesman Mohammad Ismail Yusanto said 500 people were taking part, Indonesia media said.

Supporters shouted to help Muslims in East Turkistan where deployed thousands of Chinese soldiers after killings of hundreds of Uighurs.

They also demanded action from the Indonesian government to stop what they called "genocide" in East Turkistan whose name changed by China as Xinjiang.

The supportes carried banners reading "Stop the genocide of Muslims", "China is communist, racist and fascist", Indonesian reports said.

World Uighur Congress said that near 800 Uigurs were killed during a week-violence after Han Chineses attacks and following intervention of China forces. The China governmnet put the death toll 156.

Call on Muslim world

Similar rallies were held in other cities in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim-majority nation of about 234 million people.

'All Muslims must show solidarity to the Muslim Uighurs and pray for their safety,' the head of hardline Muslims' Forum (Forum Umat Islam), Mr Muhammad Al Khaththath, said in a statement.

The Asia head of the World Islamic People's Leadership, Mr Din Syamsuddin, described the attacks on the Uighurs as 'a crime towards humanity' and a 'human rights violation'. 'It can be considered a genocide and ethnic and religious cleansing,' he added.

Video appeared showing Chinese lynch that sparked Uighur protests. Exiled Uighur leaders said the protests were peaceful until security forces over-reacted with deadly force.

Chinese police arrested 1,434 Uighurs two days after killing Uighurs and wounding more than 1,000 since Uighurs started the protests in the capital Urumqi.

Further deaths have occurred across all across East Turkistan since then.

Han Chinese took to the streets of Urumqi early in the week wielding machetes, poles, chains and other makeshift weapons vowing vengeance against the Uighurs.

Diplomatic protest of boycott

On Sunday, a number of Indonesian organizations and politicians called on Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to lodge an official protest with the Chinese government over its ban on Uighurs to perform Friday prayers, Indonesia's Antara news agency said.

"As the world's largest Muslim country, Indonesia must urge the Chinese government to stop the violence (in the region) and allow Muslim Uighurs to resume services at their mosques," the senior official of The Indonesian Muslim Workers Association (PPMI), Eggi Sudjana, was quoted as saying.

"This is the first test for SBY in the wake of presidential and vice presidential election," he was quoted as saying.

On Monday different groups also staged a anti-China rally at the same location, reports said.

Uighur supporters have kept Tuesday their insistance on government to put diplomatic pressure on the Chinese government for an immediate halt to violence on Muslims.

"If diplomacy doesn't work we urge the Indonesian government to break diplomatic ties with China and boycott their products," the protesters said in a statement.

Baku APA. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will raise the issue of bloody events in Xinjiang-Uighur autonomous region of China in the G8 summit in LAquila, Italy.

On his departure for the G8 summit, Erdogan told journalists that he will raise the issue of mass killing of Uighurs to the G8 leaders, including the US, APA reports quoting Haberturk. Our foreign ministry invited the Chinese ambassador and gave a notice to him. We demanded to end this wildness soon. I will discuss this issue with the world leaders. It is impossible for Turkey to keep silence toward this wildness.

Erdogan said Turkey was ready to give a visa to the leader of World Uighur Congress Rebia Kadeer, who lives in exile in the United States, if she asks them for it. Chinese communist regime accused Kadeer in the masterminding of unrests and said she instigated the Uighurs in China.
