no he was not .. he did what he thought is right in general. Why 90% people hate him .. you got ask why those 90% elected zardari and co + nawaz. Have n't they learned from past and have these people been tried again and again. It is way easy to manipulate people by using some words like democracy, politicians, civilians etc. etc.
Agree that Parvez Musharraf was a dictator and very strict and some people called him a gunda (goon) but there have been no financial corruption charges on him which is strange combination for any Pakistani leader after Liaqaut Ali Khan.
Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew was a gunda from street who changed their country to whats called Singapore today. We need a ruler like Lee Kuan Yew who is very strict but very clean and a man with a mission like Parvez Musharraf or maybe maybe maybe Imran Khan. We will find out about Imran if he ever comes into power he comes from elite class and NOT from common people like MQM leaders, based on his cricket career decisions I doubt he will be fair and just or free from corruption, we shall see. Parzez Musharraf on the other hand is not from common people but proved to be good for the country and common man and freedom of media in most cases except Nov 3rd.
About Imran Khan, he is so far clean mostly, maybe because he never had political power but he seems to be pro-extremism and his party is mainly limited to cities of one province, most of his followers are educated people of elite class which makes him look good but has almost no roots among common people. His stance on things have changed including supporting Musharraf, supporting Islamist parties, terrorism etc etc, so he is proving to be unreliable flip flopper.

I agree with Syd on the need of a serious leader like Lee Kuan Yeo or I may add like Dr. Mohatir with self believe and dedication. This is disheartening to see the absence of such or even near this level. Imran is a nice guy who has surely a vision for Pakistan and doing his efforts in his capacity (latest example is Namal Uni). Having said that it seems he is far from any role in political ground where one can see his performance.
Musharraf's biggest problem was his being illegal. His performance in economy and other fronts has been good and his team was far better than this especially on key fronts. What kinda baqwas is this about Musharraf?.....A country looted for 40 years by the current political parties and their "jayallas" cry about Mushrraf?....on what basis?....
There is no law or justice in Pakistan, period! One should just thank God for any kind of leadership and Musharraf like any human made some mistakes, however, compared to the current trash, he was the best thing Pakistan had.

HMMMM we do need a gunda leader who can turn our gunda politicians into bakriiiiiiiiiiiis...

I strongly agree with those who say that luqman is pro-Musharraf because in 3285 days if he had introduced couple of good things like women abuse or few more topics does not depict a true and productive govt administered by him. In fact, he is the one who made a deal (NRO) with PPP and deliberately provided the safe heaven for his succeeding current Govt.waseemmanno said:

I personally believe that those who have been serving Pakistan in the top most portfolio like (President,Prime minister and all other dignitaries that after they serve Pakistan, they should not get Nationality or live out side of Pakistan..
