Prosecuting few individuals is not going to solve all of Pakistan"s problems. Actually our problems are much bigger and deeper than that. Our biggest problem is that our system is broke and, rightfully, no one trust this system. We must fix the system, otherwise prosecuting few individuals will not yield the desired results.

I don't think our politicians either have the capability or the desire to fix the system. We have already tried military intervention four times, I don't want to see it tried one more time. Now the only hope is revolution at the grass root level. Having said that, I have no idea where the leadership will come from.

Personally, I don't endorse this statement of Altaf Bhai. Whatever he means, or whatever exp*****ion given by his colleagues, I can not swallow any of them. But, if I see this statement with special context of current situation, it looks like a reality.
If there is a mechanism to find out what common Pakistanis are thinking about the present democracy and politicians, I am confident, about 90% people of Pakistan are talking about the same what Bhai said.
We have witnessed in the past, whenever army took control, not only common people but also all the opposition parties supported the coup.
Marshal Law lagne per mithai hum ne bhi khai hai.
But, still I don't support Marshal Law.
Irony is that how to bring the change? How to get rid of this corrupt system. I know democracy is the answer but it is very slow process, and the situation against Pakistan is horrible, we need a cure right now, otherwise it can be very late. Time is running short for Pakistan.
We need a revolution, for sure. Who cares if MQM is also effected, provided if they are culprits too.

Very good Ejaz.It is my point also.As a statement I do not like it the background and context is very importent.There is no second opinion that this system has collapsed.By elections it can not be set right,as these jagerdar,vadera and all mafias will come in power again.So what is the way then??Answer is revolution.Bloody or soft??Soft means dismissal of present Govt: and formation of a national Government having military in background.(That I think AH meant).Otherwise !!!!!

Its high time that Army declares a localized martial law in Karachi metropolitan. We must not let the ANP/MQM continue destabilizing the country. somebody out there is responsible and deserves prosecution and eventual hanging. indirectly PPP is responsible due to their closed eye fearing MQM's reprisal in parliament to bring the no-confidence vote against PPP.

Constitution has given the provinces a blank check as to when to call in the army. This is a major flaw. What if the provincial govt has its own stake in not calling the army as we see it now. MQm can not call the army because of fear they might lose everything. Altaf's recent statement approving the army incursion, is nothing but a bluff and a shield to protect his party in case the Sind governor does decide to call the army.

here is how constitution must be amended to prevent this chaos in future, dates are just for example:

1. Fed ministry of interior (FedMoi) requests the provincial governor/home minister etc to call the army and restore order on Jan 1. then closely monitors the situation.

2. Situation has deteriorated, but the province is not paying attention. The FedMoi sends a letter again requesting the same on Jan 10

3. Still no positive response from the province, FedMoi sends a final letter on Jan 20.
Same time FedMoi consults with the army chief and keeps the Supreme Court apprised of the lack of attention from the province.

If the situation has improved to the satisfaction of the FedMoi then no further action required,

If the situation has not changed, then FedMoi appears at the Supreme Court and appeals for permission to invoke the doctrine of necessity and send the troops to the affected city.

the Supreme Court by law would have only 24 hrs to decide and grant permission, OR the province's governor appeals with the SC to rescind the request of the FedMoi.

the Sc again has 24 hrs to examine the request and either grant or withhold based on the situation and interest of the country. On jan 31, the army goes in.

in case of current situation in karachi, the SC should not need even 24 hrs to grant permission to call the army.


so simple. but these 'democracy' fakers will never do it. Nobody wants to give up power.
