By repeated interferences, their bigotery, lies, deception to earn $$$ and enjoy power, brutal crackdown, business interests over country, supporting corrupt politicians for personal benefits, making commission and considering that they are above the law, they have shot themselves in the foot. They destroyed repute of the whole institution and lost public support.
