Recently Meezan bank has put a ban on Online fund transfer facility for Non resident Pakistanis. The are referring to an old State bank regulation vide Chapter 8 of Foreign Exchange Manual 2018 which says about specific Credit and Debit transactions for Non Resident customers are allowed only after submission of Form A-7 which is duly signed by the account holder. Hence, transactions in NRP accounts can only be allowed by Bank after satisfying with the purpose of transaction which should be in line with purposes allowed in stated chapter of FE manual. Therefore, Fund transfer IBFT facility is terminated for NRP accounts accordingly. But question is that how a Non resident Pakistani will fulfill this requirement and the for Non Resident Pakistani the only option is to transfer funds using Online source. How can a non Resident Pakistan can write check or prepare pay order........

On one hand Non residents are major source of foreign exchange on other hand if there will be restrictions like this than how would they use banking channels to do their legitimate transaction from abroad???? Plus all these transactions were source of WH taxes for government.

Why is it such a pain to transfer money to Pakistan. Bank transfers, wire transfers, xoom, etc there are so many hurdles. No business transfers are allowed and only personal transfers are allowed, which can take several days. Probably why hundi is so popular. I don't know where the hurdle is ? .Is it the SWIFT system that is not integrated with our banks? A transfer between UK and USA or AUS takes few hours and once XRP based transfers displace SWIFT, it is anticipated that transfers will take seconds.

With all due respect I have encountered no such problem. You are either lying or overstating your troubles.

My transfers from US & UK to Pakistan takes only minutes. Except only when it's weekend. Even then it's completed on following working day.

-6-7 days on xoom, and transferwise (Its not on this end, the service always says there is a problem on receiving end)
-2 weeks on bank transfer. (I don't do this a lot last did several months ago)
-UK and AU transfer takes hours with same services
-Try doing a business transfer to Pakistan and see what happens.

- Because you account with Xoom is not verified, once FBI verifies your account, you will not see any delays.
- Bank to Bank transfer in to Pakistani accounts takes minutes, Bank of America and WellsFargo transfer realtime if you provide correct IBAN.
- Western union, RIA and Moneygram disburse right away but they have limits on the amount you can send

I have been doing this for many years and never once had any problem. If I ever saw any delays it was from US Bank because sometimes your transaction is flagged and you are being verified through their process.

Never once was the delay I faced due to Pakistani banks.

Yes, you are right on that. I totally agree. Services of Pakistani banks within Pakistan sucks bigtime.

These banks are treating citizens very badly within Pakistan and regulators like State Bank and SECP has been worthless.

Equal and speedy access to banking service should be right of every citizen of Pakistan.

I do agree. I used to face the same problem this month while the only facility I was using to do transaction via IBFT from abroad. MBL responded as apologize and ask to sign the original form and submit to the relevant branch. This is insane as NRP customer is being treated like non tax payer (or theft), however, we are the great source of remittances tough.
