LAHORE: The second ‘Made in India Show’ will held in February 2014 at Expo Centre wherein as many as 95 leading Indian companies belonging to industrial machinery, pharmaceutical sector, Gems and Jewellery and consumer items would be showcasing their products.
Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) is holding the show in collaboration with the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).
FICCI Director for Arab and South Asia Goutam Gosh, who was heading a five-member team, was talking to Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Engineer Sohail Lashari here at the LCCI on Tuesday. LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Tariq Misbah, Vice President Kashif Anwar, former vice president Aftab Ahmad Vohra, executive committee member Muhammad Haroon and former executive committee member Rehmatullah Javaid also spoke on the occasion.
Gosh said that there would be two components of the India Show.
First one is the single country exhibition itself where 95 Indian companies would be showcasing their products while the second important segment would be the CEOs Conference. The incoming FICCI president would be visiting Pakistan along with 55-member strong CEOs delegation for the said conference.
“The very objective of CEOs Conference is to bring the businessmen of two countries further close. It would be a sort of B2B between Pak-India businessmen.”
LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari, while assuring the FICCI team of his fullest support and cooperation for Second Made in India Show, said that a special committee comprising LCCI executive committee members would be formed at the LCCI to coordinate with the FICCI to make this exhibition a big success.
He said that all the office-bearers and the executive committees of all the chambers in Pakistan would also be taken on board for the Made in India Show.
He said that after the India Show 2014, the LCCI would ask all the SAARC countries to arrange such events in Pakistan to further cement trade ties. He said that the LCCI was of strong hope that the governments in Pakistan and India would back private sector initiatives aimed at promotion of trade.
The LCCI president said that the proposed CEOs Conference and made in India Show would give a lot of awareness to the Pakistani businessmen interested to interact with their Indian counterparts. He said that the LCCI believes that economic policies should overpower politics in the larger interests of the people in the two countries.
He said that it was now duty of the Indian government and the businessmen to remove all Pakistan-specific Non-Tariff Barriers so that direct trade between the two countries could get a jumpstart.
He said that Pakistani business community would also hold the same kind of the event in India soon to reciprocate the efforts of our counterparts.
