KPK LG polls on party basis: Imran
PESHAWAR/KARACHI - (INP)- Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be held on party basis and they will be a role model for the country.
Talking to media persons in Karachi on Sunday Imran said PTI would fully cooperate with the PML-N-led federal government in war against terrorism and law and order issues.
He also announced that a white paper on a detailed report on rigging in the general elections would be released on August 21. Our party has prepared a detailed and evidence-based white paper showing how the elections were stolen through a widespread rigging on May 11, he said. Imran said he had great respect for the chief justice and had no intention to indulge in any fight against the Supreme Court.
The PTI chairman demanded deployment of army inside and outside polling stations during the by-polls in KP to be held on August 22. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be made an example of good governance for rest of the country, he said while addressing a public rally in Peshawar and launching ceremony of right to information law. KP Chief Minister Parvez Khattak, Provincial Information Minister Shah Farman and KP Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser were also present on the occasion.
Imran said that KP is the first province where Right to Information Law has been introduced and according to this law every person would be allowed to get access to any information in government departments. He said the citizens would pay taxes when they would complete knowledge about the spending of public money.
He made it clear if PTI government did not deliver, they would quit government but they would not deviate from the party manifesto. I warn all corrupt elements that Imran will interfere if anyone is found involved in malpractices, he said. He said that due to his illness, he was not able to pay personal attention to the affairs of the province but now after his complete recovery he will supervise each and every thing on daily basis.
Imran maintained that soon the people would feel change with a really independent accountability bureau working and a local government delivering to them. He said that owing to local government system, people would not have to go to the doors of the politician and they would resolve their problem on self-help basis.
The PTI chief said that their government has formed think tanks and working groups for each ministry who are busy round the clock to improve the efficiency of each department. He said that soon PTI government would also introduce conflict of interest law and according to which no politician would be allowed to increase his property while the assets of all politicians would be displayed on website.
Imran went on to say that government guest houses in Galyat would be made commercial and its profit would be spent on promotion of education in those areas while now the bureaucrats will not entertain free of cost stay in these guest houses. He lauded the role of KP Chief Secretary Arbab Shehzad and his team and requested former chief secretary Abdullah to become member of the proposed accountability commission.
PTI chief said that the country lacked good governance that was why it had been included in third world countries but his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was committed to bringing good name to the country. He said there are huge resources in the country but the rulers did not pay any attention to utilise these resources. Regarding law and order situation in KP, he said all resources would be utilised to bring peace and ensure security of life and property of the people.
