District authorities in Rahim Yar Khan put the leader of banned organisation Lashkar-e-Jhangvi Malik Ishaq under house arrest for 10 days due to security reasons, late Thursday night.

Ishaq had recieved his passport to perform Umrah a few days ago.
Ishaq, the alleged mastermind of the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team at Liberty Chowk in 2009, was granted bail by the Supreme Court, Lahore registry, after the prosecution failed to prove his involvement.
After being released from jail on bail, Ishaqs presence managed to cause violence and death last week when members of his entourage clashed with a Shia community in Muzaffargarh district, resulting in at least two deaths and ten injuries.

LAHORE: It was all too predictable. After being released from jail on bail, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi leader Malik Ishaq’s presence has already managed to cause violence and death on Sunday morning when members of his entourage clashed with a Shia community in Muzaffargarh district, resulting in at least two deaths and ten injuries.

Ishaq, a leader of the banned anti-Shia militant organisation, has been charged with the murder of 70 people, most of them Shia. He was released on bail on July 16 and has been travelling the country, preaching his message of bigotry against the Shia community ever since.
Ishaq had planned on travelling to Alipur in Muzaffargarh district on Sunday. Supporters of his organisation, as well as the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (formerly the Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan), had begun preparations on Saturday night, putting up banners and chanting slogans.
The Shia community of Alipur, had raised concerns with the police over the intention of the LeJ leading a procession through a Shia neighbourhood. Police officials dispersed the LeJ supporters on Saturday night and assured the Shia community that the event would be addressed by ASWJ leader Khadim Hussain Dhiloon and would take place indoors.
“We believed the police’s assurances,” said Kazim Ali Haideri, a local leader of the Punjab Shia Ulema Council.
At 4 am on Sunday morning, however, a welcoming party comprising approximately 800 young men on motorcycles chanting anti-Shia slogans started to ride into Alipur on the road from Panjnad.
For three kilometres on either side of the road is a Shia-dominated neighbourhood called Ghalwaan. While passing through that neighbourhood, at a point called Petrol Pump Wala Chowk, the young LeJ supporters encountered members of the Shia community.
It is unclear exactly what happened next, but given the toxic mix of armed young men confronted with people they have been taught to hate, it is perhaps sadly predictable that somebody started shooting (both sides claim it was the other).
The shootout lasted for several hours, during which at least two LeJ supporters were killed. Another 10 people were injured, including six from the Shia community. At least one police officer, Subinspector Shaukat, however, was confirmed injured by the police.
Following the armed clash, around 9.30 am, both sides retreated into their respective sanctuaries. The Shia community regrouped at the Sallonwala Imambargah while Ishaq’s supporters gathered at the Madrassah Jamia Hussainia.
During the clash itself, most of the police in the area, barring a few officers who had been posted nearby, did not go close to the warring parties.
Until the filing of this story, both sides remained holed up in their respective hideouts. The police are trying to negotiate a way for both sides to eventually leave, but had not been successful as of the time The Express Tribune went to print.
“They provoked the clash,” said Haideri.
It is unclear how Ishaq was allowed to leave his hometown in the first place, since he is on an anti-terrorism watch list whereby he is required to ask permission before leaving the jurisdiction of his local police station.

QUETTA: A complete shutter-down strike is being observed in parts of Quetta to protest the killing of 26 pilgrims in Mastung on Tuesday.
The strike is being observed on the call of Ittehad-e-Tajirin Balochistan, Hazara Democratic Party and Tahafuz-e-Azadari Council.
Shops located on Alamdar Road, Hazara Town and Mariabad have been closed, while tension prevails in most areas.
A seven day mourning had also been announced by Tahafaz-e-Azadari Council, Wahdat Bainul Muslimeen and Shia Ulema Council.
Police have also arrested several suspects, many of them Afghans, in a crackdown against those involved in the attack in the Mastung area.
Nazir Ahmad Kurd, senior police officer, told AFP that 85 people had been taken into custody during a search operation to find the attackers.
“These people have been taken into custody for questioning. Those proven innocent will be released later,” Kurd told said.
22 buried in Hazara Town
Twenty-two pilgrims who were killed in the attack were buried at the Hazara Town graveyard in Quetta today.
A large number of people attended the burial, which was followed by a protest to condemn the incident and demand the immediate arrest of the culprits.
Out of the 26 killed, 22 belonged to Quetta, two were from Loralai and two from Afghanistan.
The bodies of those belonging to Loralai and Afghanistan have been sent to their respective areas.
HRCP slams government over killings
Pakistan’s independent rights watchdog said the killers had been emboldened by a persistent lack of action against sectarian militant groups, which have been implicated in thousands of deaths in past years.
Tuesday’s attack “exposes once again the diminishing writ of the state,” warned the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP).
“Continued sectarian bloodshed across the country… is a direct consequence of the authorities’ perpetual failure to take note of sectarian killings in Quetta which have been going on for many years,” it added.
It was the deadliest attack on Shias in Pakistan since September 4, 2010 when a suicide bomber killed at least 57 people at a rally in Quetta.
“The government must move beyond rhetoric and its current casual and reactive approach to law and order challenges and start functioning as a responsible authority,” said the HRCP.
The Shia community in Balochistan came under attack when 29 people were killed in two separate, targeted incidents claimed by banned militant outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.
At least 26 people were killed and six others injured in Ganjidori area of Mastung, about 30 kilometres southeast of Quetta, when a group of armed men attacked a passenger bus carrying Shia pilgrims from Quetta to Iran.
Hours later, three more people, hailing from the Hazara community, were gunned down near Akhtarabad area of Quetta as their rescue team made its way to the site of the bus attack. Two others were also shot.

LeJ leader continues to preach violence

Malik Ishaq vows to continue his killing spree even if he is jailed for it.

LAHORE: ‘Cognitive dissonance’ fails to describe the words and actions of Malik Ishaq, the leader of the sectarian militant group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), recently released on bail.

Far from keeping a lowprofile, the man accused of murdering 70 people – most of them Shia – is active once again, preaching hatred and violence in the name of Islam, according to an internal document prepared by a law enforcement department of the Punjab government and made available to The Express Tribune.

The document titled: “Highly objectionable activities of Malik Ishaq” reads “Please find enclosed herewith four vernacular reports regarding some highly objectionable activities of Malik Ishaq whose name has also been placed in the fourth schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) for information and appropriate legal action.”

“Ishaq addressed Maulvi Muhammad Yasin’s Madrassah Tajul Aloom at Tab Chouhan on September 2. Earlier the same day, he also gave an address at Maki Mosque, Thal Hamza District in Rahim Yar Khan,” reads the cover letter enclosed with the document.

“All those against Sahaba, are not our personal enemies, but the enemies of Islam. And we will fight them … we cannot tolerate these elements at any cost,” Ishaq had said during his address, reveals the document.

On September 4 and 5, Ishaq also visited Tranda Panah with Shafiq Maavia, a man whose name was also placed in the fourth schedule of the ATA (meaning he and every person who visited him would be watched by the police). This programme was hosted by Ayub Maavia. He later attended a Difa-e-Sahaba conference held at Madrasa Qasamul Uloom which was hosted by Maulana Manzoor Amed.
During the conference, they chanted some highly inflammatory slogans. Ishaq, then, also vowed that the “killings of the enemies of Sahaba would continue”.

“Prisons will not stop our mission. The LeJ is not a terrorist outfit. It was set up to ensure proper respect for the companions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH),” Ishaq said. He said he would not abandon its mission even if he’s jailed for it once again. “Our struggle will continue,” he reiterated.
On September 6 Ishaq visited the house of high-profile terrorist, Abdul Wahab alias Aanek Wala Jin, whose name is also included in the Red Book, comprising particulars of most-wanted terrorists.
He was accompanied by Qari Manzoor Ahmed Shakar, the general secretary of District Kasur, whose name is also placed in the fourth schedule of the ATA.

The entry of Malik Ishaq and Syed Ghulam Rasool Shah, a close aide of Ishaq’s and coaccused in various cases of terrorism registered against the LeJ leader, has been banned within the limits of District Toba Tek Singh for three months due to provocative speeches and inciting violence.
Despite being declared a terrorist organisation, policemen have been deployed at Ishaq’s residence in Mohallah Islam Nagar.

Why do you assume that i made my opinions based on what the liberal or secular columnists write? Why I can't be my own person and have my own opinions - can i assume that you are influenced by the narrow minded half literate mullahs? dont assume things my brother ....

I know you wrote a lot of things - may Allah show you the light - thats all I can pray. I really dont know what your goals are.
BUT, all I can say is that you gave a lot of credence to what I said in my earlier post that WE are fighting the proxy war for Iran and Saudi Arabia on our soil!

You pointed all the problems with Iran and Iranians and Shias - but you dont see ANY problem with Saudi Arabia or Saudis or Wahabism and salafism. So your worldview is one sided.....I can clearly see which side of this proxy war you are on!

You also admitted in a roundabout way that this menace of sectarianism seeped into our society around the time of iranian revolution and the soviet invasion of afghanistan - iran wanted to export its revolution and saudis wanted to make sure that THEIR BRAND of islam was exported all over the world. I have myself seen evidence of saudi and iranian efforts all over the world - how they hired help in pakistan and abroad to finance and further their views. There is no other country and people in the world who are so gullible and so impressionable as Pakistanis. If I was a self respecting Pakistani - I would not take a dime from the Saudi kings - who only have their own interests in mind and they dont support us because we are their cousins - rather you can ask anyone who has been in contact with saudis what they really think of pakistanis :-) If Saudis had the real goodwill of muslims at heart they wouldn't be abandoning the palestinians the way they have and the kashmiri cause and would have stood up to the USA.....but they are self serving b@$tards and they only care about themselves. Mates things are way more complicated that we think, in fact complicated because we always know half-truths. I really criticize army for many things which includes their bossy attitudes as well as their assets and personal character of many amongst them yet they had to fight it.Of course, this thing was thrust upon us because of Musharraf's retreat without much planning yet things got worse when india and coalition forces got hold in afghanistan. Now india doesn't want a stable Pakistan and it is the same at our side too (be it for any reason, though power seems to be the main reason) and ever heard about wanted criminals in urban areas who then go to rural areas and live there secretly and do anything they want, even attacking police and doing whatever they can. Now provide them with religious cover, latest of weapons and a lots of money along with the liberty to do any damn thing in this world to anyone they want and still stay intact, they would do the same as TTP is doing. It includes not only wealth-hungry tribal war lords but all the criminals and mercenaries from all over the world and on the top, there are intelligence agencies operating. I would have had disclosed some other facts here yet according to the recent situation which escalated during the past two days, it might compromise some things (well! a vague idea yet one needs to stay careful).
