Troops were carrying out the attack in an attempt to allow women and children trapped inside the mosque to escape. About 20 people have now been killed since the stand-off began last Tuesday. The BBC's Syed Shoiab Hasan, in Islamabad, says he has heard intermittent gunfire in the area and the boom of heavy weapons. An increased military presence on the streets, combined with the refusal to let the political delegation through to the mosque, suggests that the government is now closing the door to negotiation, our correspondent adds. On Saturday police also seized control of a madrassa, or religious school, several kilometres away, which is also run by clerics from the mosque. Police described the Jamia Faridia school as a "powerhouse" for the mosque and said several of its students were involved in the stand-off. Abdul Rashid Ghazi has said he and his followers are willing to lay down their guns but would rather die than surrender. He told the BBC on Saturday that as many as 1,800 followers remain in the mosque, and claimed to have buried 30 female students in a mass grave in the compound, though neither claim can be verified. More than 1,000 supporters left earlier this week under mounting pressure from security forces. About 60 of those remaining are said to be hardliners campaigning for the imposition of strict Islamic law (Sharia) in Islamabad. They have led a morality campaign which in recent weeks included the abduction of police officers and people accused of running brothels, as well as raids on music and DVD shops |
Musharaf wanted to kill muslim in LAL masjid before his visit to USA. After killing so many people (99% innocent), he visited US and met his buddy Bush. He told BUSH that i am very important in war against terrorist and I killed hundreds in LAL masijd becuase they wanted to conquer Pakistan and then they would create problem to you Sir.
can you honestly 100% say this is what happened the entire ecenario you presented, or just assumption, how sure are you or what you have done if you were the leader, if somebody with beared you let them go, and take all musjids in islamabaad slowly and invite more bearded people and show how govt weak. BEARED is sunnah, you will be rewarded inshallah, but who gave them the right to take military grade weapons inside the holy musjid and wont budge after negotiation, look even the their leader escaped in burqa, smart person, he is alive today and free. This is yet another example in which the courts of Pakistan are over-stepping their jurisdiction in their quest to continue victimizing Former President Musharraf.
The Lal Masjid operation, similar to the operation against militant Nawab Akbar Bugti, was a military operation and under the Constitution of Pakistan is not open to scrutiny by the High Court.
This vicious vendetta against the Former President must stop. This is not only a witch hunt against General Musharraf, but is also functionally dragging Pakistan Military actions in to Courts that do not have jurisdiction over them. Nothing good will come out of this unwarranted judicial activism, should it continue unchecked.

Ch. Shujat and other prominent leaders told on TV that Negotiations were completed and successful.
Both the brothers were agreed to leave the Masjid for ever.
They just wanted an honorable exit (everyone wants, as musharf wanted a guard of honor after 2 x martial law).

Earlier, the IHC on Monday stopped Station House Officer (SHO) Aabpara Police Station, Qasim Niazi from leaving the courtroom, saying that he would not be allowed to leave until a case was registered against Musharraf.
After registration of the case he was allowed to leave the court room.
