lal masjid in gaza...must read

History repeated itself, but this time it happened in Gaza. Abdel-Latif Moussa, the leader of Jund Ansar Allah (Soldiers of the Companions of God), was killed during fighting at his house in the Gaza town of Rafah. He was among 24 people killed in clashes with Hamas security forces. I believe the number is much higher, because the figure is from the Hamas-run interior ministry.

The fighting began on Friday after Moussa proclaimed "the creation of an Islamic emirate in the Gaza Strip" during a sermon in the mosque and called for the territory to be governed purely by sharia (Islamic law).Hamas security officials blocked all roads to Rafah and declared the town a closed military zone as they battled about 100 of his supporters. Does that remind you of something? [fazl] [nawaz]

Where are all the people, who launched a massive hue and cry over the lal masjid incident. Shouldn't Ismail Haniyah be tried in court as well? This is hypocricy at its peak.

plz comment.

When did this al-quaida-affiliate Jaish-Ansar-xyz ever participate in an election? Who were its leaders? what's the story of their struggle?

If I remember correctly, Hammas came to power in a free-and-fair election, endorsed as such by the likes of Jimmy Carter (compare that with the generally-rigged elections in Pakistan). They have more legitimacy to run Gaza's affairs than any other wanna-be jihadi group..

Lal Masjid's story was different. Mushy was a usurper. And the Ghazi brothers were no angels either. One of them wasn't even qualified to be a religious scholar, let alone issue fatwas of Jihad (a HUGE responsibility within the context of an islamic state). In short, an oppressor crushed a rebel, the story that has often been repeated in our 1400 year history as an ummah (remember the siege of Kaaba in '79?)

I am aware that Hammas is not the favorite of the Saudis anymore, may be your post is meant to sow doubts about their sincerity toward the Palestinian cause.

pls. disregard my last sentence. I didn't read it till after posting my response. I don't think you meant to sow any doubts about Hammas here, you were merely hinting at the hypocrisy of our rightist brothers..
