The Pakistan Council for Science and Technology, Islamabad, has declared Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary “the most productive scientist of Pakistan”.Prof Iqbal Choudhary is director of the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS),
Karachi University.
He has acquired this rank many times in his research and academic career.According to the Directory of Productive Scientists of Pakistan 2017, the PCST has acknowledged the top position of Dr Iqbal Choudhary he has been awarded. Dr Choudhary was selected from 4,154 productive scientists of Pakistan.
Under the umbrella of ICCBS, Dr Choudhary also heads the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry and the Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research, KU.The quality research contribution of scientists, including academicians, engineers and doctors of the country, particularly those involved in the production of new knowledge is regularly evaluated and ranked by the PCST.
The council has published eight directories on the subject“Productive Scientists of Pakistan” in the last twenty years. This is the 9th study carried out and it includes the data of 4,154 scientists of Pakistan employed in both public and private universities, colleges and the R&D organisations who have contributed in scientific research from beginning of their career up to 2016.

کراچی: پاکستانی کے ممتاز کیمیا دان ڈاکٹر پروفیسر اقبال چوہدری کو سال 2017ء کے لیے ملک کا سب سے زیادہ ثمرآور اور علمی کام کرنے والے ماہر کا اعزاز دیا گیا ہے۔
پاکستان کونسل فار سائنس اینڈ ٹیکنالوجی (پی سی ایس ٹی) نے اپنی ’موسٹ پروڈکٹو سائنٹسٹ آف پاکستان‘ ڈائریکٹری میں جامعہ کراچی میں واقع انٹرنیشنل سینٹر فار کیمیکل اینڈ بایولوجیکل سائنس ( آئی سی سی بی ایس) کے سربراہ ڈاکٹر اقبال چوہدری کو سال 2017ء کے لیے یہ اعزاز دیا گیا ہے۔
واضح رہے کہ اس سے قبل بھی وہ کئی مرتبہ یہ اعزاز اپنے نام کرچکے ہیں۔ڈاکٹر اقبال چوہدری کا انتخاب پاکستان کے 4154 ایسے سائنس دانوں میں سے کیا گیا ہے جنہوں نے گزشتہ برس بہترین علمی و تحقیقی کام بڑی تعداد میں شائع کرایا یا پیش کیا تھا۔ پی سی ایس ٹی کی ایک جیوری مسلسل اس عمل پر نظر رکھتی ہے اور گزشتہ 20 برس میں 8 کی تعداد میں ایسی ڈائریکٹری شائع کرچکی ہے جبکہ 2017ء میں اس سلسلے کی نویں ڈائریکٹری منظرِ عام پر آئی ہے۔
اس عمل میں سرکاری یا نجی اداروں، جامعات، کالجوں، تحقیقی اداروں میں کام کرنے والے محققین کے سائنسی کام کا جائزہ لیا جاتا ہے، نویں ڈائریکٹری میں ان افراد کے نام شامل ہیں جنہوں نے سال بھر سائنسی خدمات انجام دی ہیں، کسی بھی سائنس داں کا انتخاب کرتے وقت اس کی تحقیق کے معیار، اس کی مقدار اور اس کا اثر دیکھا جاتا ہے۔جامعہ کراچی کے وائس چانسلر ڈاکٹر محمد اجمل اور اعلیٰ تعلیمی کمیشن کے سابق سربراہ اور آئی سی بی بی ایس کے پیٹرن ان چیف ڈاکٹر عطاالرحمان نے پروفیسر اقبال چوہدری کو مبارک باد دی ہے۔
