There are two ways to have government of our choice, through the vote or through the pressure group. Seems like pressure group and lobbying works more effectively.
If not the most at least in many countries including the super powers, government is run by and controlled by some pressure groups not the public. Those groups are the king makers and range from military to capitalists. They even change the pubic option about the leaders and governements by using the mass media and other effective tools. Irespective of their origin and nature, those groups use media, economists and technocrats to work for them in order to have hold on government and the people. There would be very few or may be no country at all which is not controlled by such a group or lobby. This is very interesting that they effectively fool the people and democracy using these tools.
The key point here is that they do their home work first and have all the effective forces with them like media, finance and politicians. They use legal and illegal means to have control over top leaders and parties. If we want to do something for ourselves and our people then we have to fill in those roles which matter in the making of kings. Those of us who think they cannot do anything are very wrong, it just requires hard work and targeting the areas and industries which are vital to be in control of things.
We have been after beaurocratic and government jobs where we could get some bribe money, but have never paid attention to the vital professions and jobs which apparently don't pay much but have hidden treasures behind. Again it comes to the leadership and more to the mindset of people which determines their destiny.
