Karachi Ops bodies dumped in capital

Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid President Shujaat Hussain, referring to the military operation in Karachi in the 1990s, has said that 50 to 60 bodies of people from Karachi have been buried in the hills of Islamabad.

Talking to a private TV channel on Tuesday, Shujaat said he had opposed the formation of anti-terrorism courts as interior minister in the Nawaz Sharif-led government
Former Ehtesab Bureau chairman Saifur Rehman, however, supported the controversial actions, he said, adding that Rehman was more powerful than him at the time. The PML-Q president said the army had informed the cabinet that the operation would be against robbers and kidnappers. He further said that Syed Ghous Ali Shah, defence affairs minister at the time, was also named among the wanted men.

Former corps commander Gen (r) Naseer Akhtar made it clear that former premier Nawaz Sharif was fully informed about the 1992 military operation before it was launched, MQM parliamentarians Ayub Shaikh and Iqbal Qadri said on Tuesday. They said in a joint statement that major decisions such as military operations could not be made without informing the government. PML-Ns Ahsan Iqbal had said earlier that Sharif and his government were not taken into confidence before the operation was launched against the MQM.

Where does it say that Nawaz Sharif was in any position to change their decision. Army just gave briefing to NS after they had already planned what they would actually do. Did Shujaat Hussain tell at that time that he would not take side of his party at that moment if the operation starts? He kept enjoying his ministry and that too interior ministry which normally takes care of these law and order situation... most likely like Rahman Malik. He opted for the same ministry in 1997 under the same PM. He contested next two elections under same NS.
Since all parties except the effected MQM never protested and unfortunately all these parties collectively had the mandate. It implies there was something wrong on th part of MQM and all parties were convinced this operation won't harm Pakistan in general. Although might not be able to achieve the desired result since Altaf Hussain managed to escape in spite of a lot of cases against him. Apparently no DEAL with the establishment for this cowardly act. In fact he used his political and intelligent skills to make this move.
Should some one ask the honourable courts to question the responsible persons as to what kind of inquiry was done against the flee of a person so much accused in criminal cases.

I fail to understand what choudhry sahib want to achieve by this statement? i m a common man and if i had to do this act of dead bodies,it will be more easy to bury these at any other place out side Karachi or desert of Sindh and there r thousands and thousands places in between Karachi and Islamabad hills where one can dispose off these bodies. why to carry these to Islamabad hills? can choudhery sb reply the logic of burials at the foot of IslamAbad hills? there could be bodies of unknown may be buried which he can tell.to my understanding its a statement to gain sympathies of MQM for his drowning Political boat.

.Brother Rana,
At time of Operation many people (workers) of MQM left Karachi and they tried to save their lives by going to other parts of country.
Many of them came to Islamabad too, and Chaudhry Sahib is telling about these people that even they were not forgiven and they were captured and killed in Islamabad.

watch 'Bolta pakistan' episode that aired on the 26th of august. Ch shujaat states that the Army wanted to start an operation against 'Pathaaray-daars' in Sindh, the chief of them being ... then defense minister Ghous Ali Shah, and his close second being a certain Jatoi guy who was also a provincial minister.

Can you recall what happened to Ghous Ali Shah in the '92 operation?
