Pakistan for some strange reason is always a day or two behind the rest of the world when it comes to sighting Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr moon.Iss saal shukr hai sirif ek hee din peechey hain warna usu. koi haal nahin humara
Atleast there should be no confusion whatsoever about Eid-ul-Azha. Eid should be the day following Haj par nahin hum ney apni kal kabhi seedhi nahin karni...lol

final words from javed ch r absolutely right..world laugh at us...we have to get out of these so called Mullas who just care about themselves and manipulate people's sentiments...now science has reached to such levels where one can sight moon for many years but bcoz of these Mullas we r struggling to reach to some conclusion...I was completely pissed off what Maulana Rahat and that stupid senetor was saying...totally rubbish...how can one follow ramadan with saudai when u r not scientifically in same region...God save us from these mullas n make our lives easy..

Pakistan got it dead right this year Eid is today Monday Sep 21

UK, US, Saudia, Gulf States, Peshawar and Afghanistan all got it wrong IMO.....and I dare say not for the first time! Morocco and Oman also did not blindly follow Saudis and celebrated Eid on Monday as well. A very thin Shawwal moon was sighted in Pakistan on Sunday (shown on TV as well) which could NOT have been sighted anywhere-else a day before (Saturday) not least for the important reason that moonset was before sunset on Saturday.

It is possible that moon is not sighted due to various factors such as cloudy weather etc. (if moonset is after sunset), something that Islam also recognises, but from a scientific viewpoint it is impossible for moon to be sighted if moonset is before sunset

In reality most mosques in the UK and US follow KSA since they do not have all the means (or so they claim) of reliably sighting the moon
