First of all, thanks for sharing the important information through this thread. I am interested in academic discussion on this topic, not any debate, and will try not to divert you from original topic. The chapters you shared contain very important information. Despite all the political differences with Mr. Bhutto, we all know that he is the founder of Pakistan's Atomic program and no one can deny that. The chapter also sheds light on misguiding of Dr. Salam. This all is new information to me. Thanks again for sharing.

After reading the whole chapter in detail, I am thinking, as we know, there were rigging in 1977 election. Bhutto wanted to stay in power. The chapter says Dr. A.Q. Khan told Bhutto in 1976 (on inception of KRL project) that atomic bomb will be made within 7 years. This means 1983. We know that great A.Q. Khan stood by his words and Pakistan successfully conducted cold test in 1983-4. It could be possible that Bhutto wanted to remain in power at least till 1983 to see the completion of Atomic program. Bhutto couldn't have trusted anyone else, specially the joint opposition to carry on the project after him. So thats why he tried his best to remain in power and 1977 election rigging could be part of these tries. If it is true, we can appreciate the intention of Mr. Bhutto. Democracy, fair elections, politics all would have been meaningless if there would have been a compromise on nuclear program. How do you see about this angle?

Point No: 2 - The chapter satires indirectly on Zia ul Haq and probably gives impression that Zia's appearance on political scene was to curb Bhutto's efforts for nuclear program. But as we know history, Zia and Ishaq Khan mentored the nuclear program the same way that Mr. Bhutto did. Benazir and Nawaz Sharif also carried on with the noble task. This may be Allah's blessing on Pakistan that He Almighty used Bhutto as the founder of this gigantic mission and kept even his arch political enemies to continue the legacy. What is your opinion?
