One must hand it to Imran Khan; it was the PTI chief who started the Panama Papers case and, despite being mocked by many of his critics, continued to follow it with unprecedented persistence and vigor. And finally his efforts came to achievement when the JIT submitted its report yesterday against the alleged mega-corruption of the Sharif family in the Supreme Court.
Since the JIT’s submission of the report in the apex court, politicians as well as media outlets have gone into overdrive, with anchors and political analysts dissecting and endlessly discussing the findings of the 254-page report. Ironically enough, the two parties—Jamaat-e-Islami and the Pakistan Peoples Party that have had virtually no role in raising the issue—have also hopped on the bandwagon, with both of them claiming to have initiated the scandal and keeping it alive.

It can be clearly seen that the initiator of the case against Nawaz Sharif was Imran Khan, while others just took political advantage. Some media outlets such as ARY News and Samaa TV are perhaps following in their footsteps, drawing unnecessary attention by falsely claiming that they kept the nation informed about Pakistan’s biggest corruption scandal.
[FONT=&]Which is entirely wrong. The only political party that kicked off the Panama Papers case was the PTI and the only channel that pursued it vigorously was BOL News. There’s no denying that the case figured on top of BOL’s priority list even when others either had either no or little interest in what has now become Pakistan’s most pressing issue. And BOL has had to pay a heavy price for exposing the corruption and venality of the ruling family in the form of its temporary closure over a petty license issue in April this year.
