First KPK women unversity:

History tab on the University Web: The Frontier Women University has been established by the Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KPK) in order to provide right education to the female of KPK and promote maturity of thought and professionalism in them, so that they better understand the new world,and are able to compete in an effective manner. It is the first ever female university in KPK, established under the Frontier Women University Act 2004, passed by the Provincial Assembly of KPK on 5th October 2004 and assented by the Governor KPK/Chancellor, Frontier Women University.

First University reported by daily times: PESHAWAR: The establishment of the Frontier Women University Bill, 2004, was presented in the NWFP assembly on Monday. The Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) had announced the establishment of a women’s university in last year’s budget.

Local Bodies Minister Sardar Muhammad Idrees presented the bill on behalf of the education minister who was not present in the House. The bill said the establishment of a separate university for women in the province was one of the priorities of the provincial government to provide higher education to women in accordance with Islamic values, customs and traditions.

PESHAWAR, May 27: The MMA government has fulfilled its pledge of establishing separate medical college and university for women in NWFP by formally giving approval to the programme. This was said by Provincial Minister for Health, Inayatullah Khan while addressing a press conference here on Thursday. The provincial Minister said government has formally approved setting up of separate medical college and university for women in NWFP and classes would start from coming September. About delay in programme, he said, approvals from different department caused deferment. Now, he continued, project directors have been appointed and work would soon start over it. He informed newsmen that the estimated cost of Women University is around Rs. 91.018 million. Whereas, he continued, separate medical college for women would cost around Rs. 179.062. The Hayatabad Medical Complex would serve as teaching hospital for the new medical college, he added. In response to a query, the Minister informed that girls would get admission in the existing Khyber Medical College.
