this story is a year old but i thought I'd share it here and get your reaction. So I thought that now would be the best time. So here it goes. a year ago it was a hard time for me as I felt that my iman and was getting weaker because I could not concentrate on my prayers, so I had been making dua asking Allah to help me strengthen my Iman. I had been doing that for a couple of months now. One morning around 4 am I was studying (I had my exams so I stayed up all night and slept after I had prayer Fajr.) And I had this urge to read the Quran because on the previous day I was reading Surah Al Qasas and for some reason i closed the Quran without finishing the last 5 pages of the Surah.

So I performed Wudu and took out the Quran and took a cushion because I don't have a Quran holder and I never place it on my lap, and I started reading. Now, this was the first time as far as I remember that I read the Quran before Fajr, before this time I had Always read After Fair. So as I was on the last or second last verse of Surah Al Qasas; suddenly a spider crawled from underneath the cushion. I had no idea how it got on the cushion because I always make sure that the cushions are clean, but somehow out of nowhere the spider crawled on to my hand, then on the couch arm and crawl down. I was a bit uncomfortable and i read the last verses quickly and closed the Quran because I was scared that the spider would crawl on my foot .

After making sure that the spider was gone I realized that I forgot to place my bookmark on the next chapter, so I went to the table of contents and tried to find my recently read Surah. as I was scrolling my finger down the table of contents, I found Surah Al Qasas. And when I looked at the name of the next Surah, I was struck with shock and awe because the name of the next Surah was Surah Al-Ankabut which translates in English into "The Spider". Never in my life had I felt a sense of fear, joy, and confusion all at the same time. I was crying and laughing at the same time. I thank Allah for showing me this sign and then for the past 2 days I was thinking of different possible explanations which could have changed that moment. FYI I wasn't doing this because I didn't believe in it, it was because I wanted to make sure the Shaitan could not make be doubt this mercy from Allah as a mere coincidence.

i don't mind you asking, you're the 8th person to ask me in this month. when i was choosing a name i wanted something that was unique, cool, and at the same time something that people won't forget, i wanted a name that would stick with someone. and one night i was sleeping and in my dream someone called me by this name and after fajr when i opened my laptop and saw the new account page, i instantly remembered the name in my dream. it was perfect. it was unique, a bit scary but definitely not something anyone would forget.

MaShaAllah.. That is indeed a sign from Allah encouraging you to keep studying Quran. Your experience with spider reminds me one of my experience of similar nature and I take this thread as an opportunity to share it with you and others who might be interested in such life experiences.

About nine years ago, I was working in an office in an English speaking country. That particular day, I was at my desk as usual, my other two colleagues (a Sikh and an English speaking) were next to me on their desks while a field worker (a Pakistani) had just arrived from field work and was also present in that room when one of my colleagues spotted a spider at his desk and both of them shouted "spider, spider".. It was something unusual for me and I was trying to figure out as to why these mature men were so over excited seeing a spider in the room. The English guy got hold on to that spider and revolved around his head several times and passed it on to Sikh guy. He did the same and passed it to Pakistani guy who asked them what was that for? They told him that the specific type of spider was a Money Spider and revolving it around one's head brings him wealth. The third guy aslo appriciated the spider and did the same. Now they passed it to me and I was so reluctant to hold it. I denied to hold it and in an effort to protect me from the spider that both my Sikh and English colleagus were almost throwing at me, I came out of my desk and was now standing at the same place where my Pakistani colleague was standing a few moments ago. When i saw that they really mean it, I holded the spider in my hand to calm them, but before i had done the same as others did, a thought came to my mind that Allah alone is the Razzaq and this is nothing but a superstition. I holded that spider away from my face right in front of my eyes and in my heart I asked "O Allah, i do not ask anyone except you, so grant me". I refused to act upon and handed that spider back to my colleagues who were somewhat disturbed by my attitude and felt that I did not want to be socialize with them (anyone who ever lived in any western country can understand what I mean).

Anyway, as soon as I returned that spider, I saw down at floor and was shocked. A coin was right between my two feet. I showed that to others and they all were nothing less than shocked. We all discussed that if the coin was there since morning then how it was not spotted by anyone else because that area of office was in frequent use by us and others working in that building.

I did not tell them what I asked to my Lord while holding that spider and thanked Allah for showing me this sign to strengthen my belief that only He is Al-Razzaq. My mother was the first who I shared this incident with.

SUBHANALLAH , were beautifull story. people nowadays do all sorts of biddah while thinking this is how we get closer to Allah, while leaving what HE and HIS Rasool (pbuh) has actually ordered them to do. it is very sad for me to look at this people, i always wish to educate them like i educated myself but when i tell them in calm manner, they get defensive. i remember once i finished my Salah and next to me their was a guy who was doing his Salah very fast, i waited in the mosque just for him and when he was leaving i left with him and told him the hadith regarding the most hated Thief in the eyes of Allah is the one who steals from his prayers. and when i told him the whole hadith and advised him that if you pray your salah in a rush, their is a change it might not be accepted, he started getting defensive and started saying that he is a haafiz, and then i got angry and calmly told him: "it doesn't matter if you've remembered the entire Quran, if you don't what it says and if you don't follow what it says". and i saw his face fall, and i just walked away like a boss.

Bro what this sign MEANT to you?

a sign does always has to mean anything, it can be shown to give you comfort. i was feeling a decline in my imaan due to intense anxiety, depression and most important, stress. and Allah help relieve some of that by answering my plee for help.

I had a similar experience. Only I never regularly read the Quran or pray regular salat. But I was going through a difficult time in my life and Had a lot of time on my hands. So I spent this time just praying all my salat. I took it upon myself as a challenge. I thought It wasn't that hard and no big deal. I can do it. And I did do it.

One night I had a weird dream. I was on a large cruise ship. Which initially was in great normal waters but then ran into stormy waters. I think the ship was going down. While getting on another boat the captain asked me one question which I thought was weird to ask. He asked me, "Do you read Surah Al Asr?" I said, "yeah. I have. Many times. Why?" Captain asks, "Next time read it with it's tafseer." And that was the last time I saw him. I woke up, opened the Quran and read Surah Al Asr.
