All these who filed taxes today will be slaughtered by future corrupt governments. Therefore, no one with even little bit of common sense will trust this amnesty..

People will rather store cash somewhere in their godowns and remain non-filers.

Why filing TAX is not mandatory in PAKISTAN with real consequences. If you own a house or a CAR you should be a tax filer automatically. Whether you owe government tax or not is not important. if you do not ow tax than you file your TAX returns with Zero but you shoud still declare that I am a citizen of pakistan and here is my income statement. WHY NOT.

Even in USA filing tax is not mandatory but voluntary. 2ndly any order issued by IRS against you can be taken to court anytime and can be reviewed by an independent judge.

In Pakistan tax-men aare judge/jury/executioner all in one. They are no accountable to anyone. A FBR officers can make your life miserable if he wants to.

If you show 1 crore income this year, they will not accept that your income decreased the following years. They will make you pay same thing again.

Also they openly ask for rishwat. If you don't pay they will destroy your file and then no one will be able to fix your case.

If you own a small business, you at least have to pay rishwat to 10-15 people on regular basis. Otherwise, your door will be shut very quickly.

So what is the conclusion of your post. People should not be forced to file tax return specially people who own houses and Luxury Cars.
