JABARA: Historic Mistake
May 01, 2004, By Albert M. Jabara

The Gulf Cooperation Council and the Arab League have made a serious mistake by recognizing the Iraqi US-Appointed Council as the legitimate representative body of Iraq. Since 9/11 attacks on Washington and New York, the GCC and other Arab countries have bowed to every US request with regards to reshaping the Middle East political, social and religious characters. stripped them from any legal or moralistic rights. This indirect acceptance of responsibility for 9/11 attack by Arab leaders simply sentenced 300 million Arabs and nearly 1-billion Muslims without trial or jury. Israel drove 7-million Palestinians out of their homes and earned decoration from U.S. presidents. Crimes committed against Palestinians and Lebanese by the apartheid state make 9/11 look like a diminutive crime at best.

The rationale in this matter is simple. Blood of powerful nations is considered redder than the blood of weak and helpless people. This injustice is the real core and cause of terrorism. This is not to justify the action of terrorists by any means and measures. We need to look at these problems from an intelligent and honest approach. First we need to eliminate aggression, invasion, theft of property and land; prevent any type of killing inflicted on the weak by the strong without just reason or cause.

US policies and ambitions in the Middle East will not bear any fruit over the long term, but will fracture every little progress the Region achieved over the last 50 years. Both the US and the Region will lose economically, politically and socially. The biggest loser will be the state of Israel for its widespread crimes against the Palestinian people. If there were a slim chance for peace and forgiveness on part of both Israelis and Palestinians, the government of Sharon and his generals has exterminated this possibility now.

The GCC and the Arab League have officially turned inhabitants of the Region into security collaterals that hold the same legal power like promissory notes and handed them over to George W. Bush and his Neo-conservative cabinet. We cannot for a moment pin 100% of the blame on Israel and United States for the atrocities against Palestinians and Iraqis, and exonerate Arab leaders. The Middle East is in this mess today because of the plunders and stupidity of Arab leaders who care more for powerless thrones and their pocket books. They do not care for the welfare and safety of their people.

Arab thinkers, writers, philosophers, and the bulk of the population of the Region feel powerless. They failed miserably to recognize the stamina and perseverance of the Palestinian people against the highly advanced war machine of the Israeli army that is made up of soldiers and settlers. Their failure now stretched into Iraq; worse than this they even began to believe the Iraqi US-appointed Councils claim that the Iraqi resistance fighters are all remnants of Saddams Baathist Party. This, of course, is a false claim based on US natural excuse to remain in Iraq indefinitely. Iraqis from all ethnic and religious groups have come together and are waging an all out uprising against occupiers. United States has one choice only! Leave Iraq immediately while it is able to salvage some relationship with Arab and Muslim masses, or risk an economic disaster, and or a possible fragmentation of states similar to what has happened to the old Soviet Union.

With all honesty, I hope George W. Bush quickly adopts the only choice and saves 300-million Americans isolation and distrust from the rest of the world. Arab oil and the Zionist states expansion dream are not worth the fall of the most powerful nation on the planet today. It took this great nation several hundred years to achieve its status; it cannot risk losing all for the benefit of warmongers like Ariel Sharon, George W. Bush and Toni Blair. The United States of America has what it takes to prevent destruction of this beautiful planet. It has what it takes to promote peace and tranquility for all. It has what it takes to learn and mature through accepting other faiths and cultures. It has what it takes to destroy all weapons of mass destruction from its arsenal and force other nations to do the same. It has what takes to secure peace and good life for its citizens through revamping its laws and replacing them with just laws. The billion dollar question is! Will United States take a responsible step and cancel all its expansion, colonial and destructive programs and replace them with an olive branch?

Losers in the Middle East are those who opposed the former regime of Saddam and failed to do something about it internally in Iraq or through regional dialogues. The real harm caused to the Iraqi people today comes from regional countries that openly supported the US invasion to Iraq and others who did not oppose it. It is very important to note that the US invasion was able to rid the Iraqi people of the brutal regime of Saddam, but literally destroyed the country and brought it back to the Stone Age. How can anyone call this aggression, this classic crime an act of liberation?

Free nations and free people from all corners of the globe have failed humanity and God by accepting the destruction of Afghanistan and Iraq. They lived a shameful 54 years seeing first hand Israelis shoot Palestinians. They lived a shameful 54 years seeing United States of America arm and finance Israel to continue its bloody war on a people who has no relation to Hitler. These nations have refused to accept a simple responsibility, morally required from every human being towards his/her nationhood, culture and religion.

Back in the eighties I was making off/on contribution to Arab News on US/Israeli conspiracies against the Region. Some pieces were used; others were tabooed. After several decades, I returned to make the same point; this time my views were either cut, censored or rejected by the same paper who gladly published my work in the eighties. My name is a marked pen by Arab literary and news establishments because I refused to ride with the same malicious hookers who prostitute their writing to protect their pimps and lords. This isnt really my biggest fear or concern. I fear that our Region is soon going to sink to a level that it cannot be saved for thousands of years.

Is it too much to ask United States, Great Britain and other coalition slaves to leave Iraq immediately? Is it a crime to demand from Israeli forces to leave the occupied land to Palestinians so they can build a home and call that home a country? Do other people have rights to fight for their honor and dignity? United States and Israel truly believe they have the right to fight Arabs and Muslims under the famous lie, fighting terrorism. Are they not terrorizing the very same people they label terrorists by dropping on them depleted uranium and cluster bombs? Why cant Sharon and George W. Bush tell Arabs and Muslim what methods or means they can use to fight for rights and honors? Let us assume, Arabs and Muslims are willing to use peaceful means to achieve their dignity and rights. Is United States willing to leave Afghanistan and Iraq? Is Israel ready to pull out of Gaza and West Bank and dismantle all illegal settlements?

None of this will ever happen until the America media begins to report the truth; until they give Americans facts, not fictions. We do not expect Arab or Muslim news makers to remove their masks and show their real faces. A majority of Arab and Muslim news publishers ban facts they consider extreme views out of fear for retaliation by US and Israeli agents who make the Region their permanent residence. It appears that you should obey and salute the ones who kill family members and neighbors; you should not oppose those who drop depleted uranium and cluster bombs on you, your family, friends and neighbors; it appears that we all should be willing to accept a total destruction of all basic lifes necessities such as water, shelter and electricity. It appears that we should all be grateful to Sharon and George W. Bush for dead bodies paraded on our TV screens of innocent Iraqis, Palestinians, Israeli and American soldiers. Remember, American and Israeli soldiers are victimized by their leaders; they are placed in harms way created for them.

It appears that if we cannot live under these warmongers rules, we should just perish or be killed by them. It appears that all religions are wrong. Ariel Sharon, George W. Bush and Toni Blair have forced retirement on God and His prophets. I cannot believe for a moment that after 57 years of my life, I would be witnessing a horrific crime being waged against helpless and defenseless people while the rest of the world pretend it is a terrific movie played of a large screen; once this terrific movie is over, everything will return to reality without any pain or harm felt by any villains or victims. All buried bodies of children, mothers, elders and grownups will return to stage the next time Ariel Sharon, George W. Bush and Toni Blair hand a new script.

If my views are not 100 per cent true, I welcome the next Arab/Muslim writer to prove me wrong.
