I just coudn't see the connection between your sensible writings on here and the Dr's antics - thats all ;-)
hahaha, well thanks i would take it in positive way. well my liking for dr. shahid does not mean i like his everything and if i dislike someone does not mean i dislike their everything. i am too old to see things just in white & black. i try to be fair if someone says or does something good i respect them (even if i dont like that person) but if even if my family member says or does something bad i do not stand by their side. same way talat hussian, javed choudhry, kashif abbasi, hamid mir and dr. shahid, rauf klasra, hassan nisar. i like them in general and have good view of them ( because in my view they are good people, i can be wrong for sure) but that does not mean i endorse their every word or everything they do. (on somethings i agree with them and sometimes i dont)
where did he mention de shahid masood?? nazar nahi aya
I hear you and agree with what you say - basically not get into personality worship and take things on their merit rather than who is saying them. I sometime I listen to him too but I can't stand his antics which show through his personality - most of it is not substance rather self promotion and sensationalizing the topics....anyway, I totally respect your choices :-)
Though I have one thing to say - I believe that in the list you mentioned below - Dr. SM is the odd man out - A physician by training and then venturing into this field of media without any credentials or the grunt work makes him what he is today.
All the others on the list have adopted this profession by choice and have slogged through the ranks and have polished their skills and learned the tricks and netiquettes of the trade they are in. We may disagree with their opinions but at least we can say that they are being professional most of the time - for me its hard to say the same for Dr. Sahib :)
I am not sure what has he written that shows that he is supporting zardari. He has in fact put him in bad light by saying that zardari government has given high posts to people who schemed against Benazir - thats a big indictment of the zardari government.
I never heard Hamid Mir defending zardari government's corruption or incompetence.
Are you serious ?
Take out Previous one Month's newspapers, read Hamid Mir's Columns, watch his programs, He is THE ONLY ONE supporter for this Government without a doubt...
Read threads posted here by other members about "for how much did you sell yourself hamid mir" and "Mir Jaffer & Mir Sadiq" etc.
I think you are out of touch for last 3-4 weeks, All of us are wondering how Hamid Mir can ignore the "Achievements of Government in Every Department of Pakistan" and can call for support for PPP Government.

all of that you said for dr shahid is very much true for Hamid mir if not for others, I find his programmes the most controversial and the ones that create hype.
Dr shahdi's approach is different but with hamid mir,
I think he has developed links with all sorts of people plus he uses his powerful channel to find the inside stories of all, taliban, army, pmln, ppp, pti and from this I can say even Journalists. From what I have understood is that he deliver the relavent news by creating hype about it and at the same time he keeps switching back and forth and I see him compromising his professional demands,
To me he doesn't come with any ideology or right or wrong he is sort of a 'bee jamalo', if you know what I mean.
Dr shahid on the other hand is I think a bit pro establishment, now that could be out of good will or for 'some other reasons' I don't know, But I don't see him jumping from one side to another just for the fun of it. He has the talent to go deep into the depth of the discussion even if it is a rumor and sometimes it seems like he is believing it but God knows what is the truth indeed.
First and foremost I respect your opinions and choices :)
I am not saying that Hamid is without flaws - almost all pakistani journalists have flaws and the ones on electronic media have more of them.
I watch his shows and he seems better than some but not the best.....
Honestly, I dont consider Dr. Shahid Masood a journalist - I personally think that he would have been better off sticking to his day job as a physician :) - Dr Sahib is not a journalist rather a spin doctor or some such thing but certainly not a journalist
Well thats what a good journalist is supposed to do - develop contacts to get inside scoops on stories. One thing that I dont get is that in Pakistani print and electronic media the lines between a journalist and an opinion makers are blurred and people wander over to either side with bravado - which is completely mind boggling! They should declare whether they are unbiased journalist or opinionated opinion makers. Lack of a clear distinction between the two creates a lot of confusion.
As I said in the begining I respect your opinion and choice and respectfully beg to disagree with your assessment :)
Just the way he has jumped around in his short professional career and the way he approaches issues and personalities makes it very hard for me to digest....
both shahid n Mir r drama pricks
well I think we have disagreement here.
you think dr shahid is jumping from one side to other? I guess I didn't see that happening (I have only seen some of his recent programmes so I can't say much) but hamid mir i have seen him switching so many sides, and in my view he goes beyond his jouralism and deliberatily tries to form opinions(he even goes on to do personal attacks as well) and thats what creats controvercy which we don't see on international media and on talat hussain's programme.
Its weird what ever you think about dr shahid I think the same for hamid mir, in my view he is a real 'siasi actor' (zordari is corrupt but not daft, he knows what he is talking about :-))
