I think adultery is more of a social sin than religious. All civilizations as old as Chinese and beyond, adultery was considered a moral sin ,way before any major religion appeared, and there was an unwritten law that you don't touch my women and I don't touch yours. There were many wars fought over this in olden days.
Famous 10 commandments only came 2,ooo plus years ago that say, Thou shall not kill! and Thou shall not commit adultery. Elders in older days use to say , Don't foul around with thy neighbour's wife or we will kill you!:LOL:

Double standards and confusion in so called Modern world...
Prostitution is considered as a profession.
And worried about adultery?

Even its allowed to offer prostitution jobs on job portals and in some countries if you dont accept the job you don't get unemployment allowance.

Its a cultural thing. Also we have jealousy in our genes from the time we lived in small tribes with not many mates to go around, if you lose your man or woman to another person, then it might mean you might never get the opportunity to have offspring again. Even though today we live in large cities with millions of potential mates to go around, we still carry the jealousy genes within us.
