never looked at it before this way

coding is the integral part of today's society
and most of all it teaches you how to think and that should alone motivate you to learn coding
So is food, why don't u become a cook. This brain washing that everyone must be a programmer u can get a job sure, but won't be happy bcz u might have a natural talent for something else.

C++ is usually not the first programming language to learn.
Try scripting language if you like designong web like php or a language like python.

learn to do something useful then learn programming, people forget they need to have a skill to automate and not the other way around.

Thats because you started with a boring and relatively difficult language. Should have started with VB.
Learn anything from Microsoft and u r pretty much fucked for life, start on Linux live the rest of your life in peace without any bullshit licensing and fluctuations.

Back in the day I took some basic courses in C++ found it extremely boring so didn't bother anymore.
public grungyTwat getPhatwariInstance() { if (grungyTwat == null) return grungyTwat = grungyTwat.createDumbBitch(); else return assertDumbBitch(GrungyTwat); }

Wrote my first program at 10.

Language itself is irrelevant. It's the concepts that you need to grasp. A loop is a loop in almost any language and a same goes for everything else. Once you've grasped the concepts and are willing to indulge in a hands on approach. Learning a new language becomes a piece of cake.

It is the context for people building a career, u might be too incompetent to comprehend that.

We are talking about learning programming languages starting from easier ones and you all of sudden bring Linux into it. No wonder you are so dumb and pretending to be a smart ass.

I have done all of it and worked for companies u cant even dream about. I can teach u what Linux really is.

Not just linux open source languages, on an open source platform. Don't worry go to hell in and take the other members with you as well.

I guess you need to start learning that again if you get it, C++ is in very high demand in financial sector, investment banks do all their Algos and other models in C ++

Money was never a motivator for me to do anything, I rather get less doing what I love than a lot for something that doesn't interest me or I don't like. But I was lucky I got to do what I like and make a lot doing it.

I learned how to code in college (self taught) - assembly, c++, php, delphi and then decided to study computer science in University. The university was so crappy and against education, i didn't learn anything new that i didn't know except some basic java, vb and c#. Really regretted wasting my time there when i had more fun learning all this online by myself.

Khair, got a degree in computer science. Realized the crappy job prospects and the mehnat mushaqat required for programming with low pay. Had interest in biology in school, decided to pursue microbiology in university.

Almost done with my degree. I absolutely love microbiology and has nothing boring about it except being a little dangerous cause you play with scary bugs.

I don't think everyone needs to learn programming unless your life revolves around computers and you do advanced level stuff with it. For majority of people, just knowledge of computers is a must but that's pretty much it.

I didn't watch the video honestly so maybe they have a point. But based on my life experiences, i don't think it's necessary. My programming knowledge hasn't served me anything except with running sites (linix administration was relatively easy to learn given my past knowledge) but not everyone else is running sites and i still hire coders to do stuff because i am too lazy/busy to do the work myself.

As for AI, i think people have too much hope with it. Sure, it will change our life a lot but it's not going to be anything like they show in movies. The amount of intelligence required for that is absolutely insane and only humans are gifted with it. We will see a lot of dumb robots though doing what they're programmed to do ie clean up, drive, follow algorithms but human like intelligence? Nah.

You wrote " Really regretted wasting my time there when i had more fun learning all this online by myself. "

I still believe one can learn a language by himself online but learning SQL by oneself is tough. One has to have good knowledge of relational database to learn SQL and until you know SQL well you can not become a good programmer because without the knowledge of database design it is not possible to do programming well. I always encourage students to do a classroom course in relational database . Computer programming is fun once you are good at designing database.
But learning so many languages by yourself, is a great task. You learnt C++ by yourself online is great. C++ is a complete object oriented language and it takes a while to learn such a language. You must be very intelligent.
I learnt C++ in my university , I have done a lot of PHP , I want to sharpen my Java skills for Mobile app development. I also enjoy SQL.

For the future Steve Jobs was absolutely right. When he predicted that flash will be obsolete , I could never agree with him because I am a web developer and almost 60% of websites used flash. Guess what , he was right, Flash has gone, His another prediction was that life will be reduced to smart phone. Now we pay the bill through phones, we can search anything , video call to anyone, traffic fines one can receive and pay , etc through a mobile phone. Steve Jobs believed everything will be programmed in the future, and knowledge of programming will be very beneficial.

You are lucky you have done what you always wanted to do.
I always wanted to be a gynaecologist but never had a chance to study gynaecology.
Ok it is a joke :)
