Dear friends, unless we can define sunnah we cannot define bidah. Deen means nizaam or management system for mankind. It is about managing people and resources for reason of production and distribution of things that people need or want as per divine advice so that people have a great life in this world in the hope of even better next life. Islam is a deen not a mazhab.

In quranic context sunnah does not mean each and every word, deed or no reaction by prophet when he witnesses something by someone. However, this is the way most people define sunnah but it is not correct in light of the quran and the realities of life itself. There is no verse in the quran that tells us follow the sunnah of the prophet but there are verses that tell us be consistent with the prophet and other verses make it very clear that it means supporting him sincerely in his mission. This explains what following the prophet means. It is like children follow their parents, it is like followers follow their leaders. All this comes down to supporting parents or leaders in what they need help with. Since a prophet is sent with a mission that is where he needs cooperation of people and their help to establish the divine system for mankind. Children copying words and deeds or movements of their parents or followers doing the same helps no one. In islam all divine instructions are given to serve some purposes. So trying to define sunnah in a way that it cannot be defined nor it serves any purpose whatsoever and instead causes divisions in ummah is therefore nonsensical and problematic.

Please see the following link about sunnah.

http://www.siasat.pk/forum/showthread.php?68250-بیوٹی-پارلرز-کی-آڑ-میں-کیا-ہو-رہا-ہے&p=417839&viewfull=1#post417839

Once we know what sunnah can be and what it definitely cannot be, we can know which so called ahadith are definitely made up no matter who narrated them or for whatever purpose.

You will see me stating very clearly that many reports called ahadith of the prophet are actually invented and likewise I state that many so called shariah laws found in fiqh books are also invented and they are anti islam. They suited ruling elite and their mullahs because by using them they controlled masses and used and abused them always. This is how islam becomes very clear from whatever falsehood people attribute to it. These enemies of islam tried their best to cover up islam but they always failed because every now and against someone from ummah pointed out these falsehoods to the ummah even at risking one's neck. Kings and their mullahs never took their opposition that easily. We should never forget what such people did to prophet's own family.

QATLE HUSSAIN ASL MAIN MARGE YAZEED HAI

ISLAAM ZINDAH HOTA HAI HAR KARBALA KE BAAD

Likewise I also explained that it is this imperialism and its mullahs who separated islam in to two components calling them religion and country or religion and state or religion and secularism or deeno duniya etc. By this separation mullahs became rulers in the name of religion and kings became rulers in the name country.

We have no choice but to accept this historical reality and get over it and get on with life for better future. It were these very mullahs who invented stories about shaane nuzool of verses and destroyed the NAZM in the quranic text. It is for this reason today we have difficulty in trying to recover that original context. It is because when you teach children things one way and then you find that it was all wrong and then you need to learn and teach thing another way it becomes very difficult to unwind and reprogram.

It is because term sunnah has been pushed in to our minds for so long we have become indoctrinated with it so any other meaning will only make sense once we consciously make a strong effort to understand things by reasons. It is like you have been driving on the left hand side and suddenly you are in a country where you must drive on the right hand side. Now you must drive consciously ie fully alert.

So all sunni and shia friends need to give this matter their full attention urgently. It will be good idea to ask questions regarding sunnah of the ulema in order to help them realise what they preach and teach in the name of islam so that at least future generations could be saved from this wrong kind of indoctrination. At least we all can agree on something about islam.

regards and all the best.

My friend I am not an islamic scholar, but what you said above is highly objectionable. If you don't follow Prophet Muhammad's pbuh sunnah then how are you going to perform Salah. In Quran nowhere it is written how and when to perform salah.

Some scholars say that bid'ah is always bad and some scholars say that there are two kinds of bid'ah, one is good and one is bad.

Qur'an was collected in one book after the Prophet Muhammad pbuh, and the congregational Taraveeh prayer was started in Sayyidna Umar's :razi: time but these two things have an origin in the Sunnah. Therefore, it will be called bid'ah in literary terms but not from Shari'ah point of view.

So we can safely say that if a new thing is started, and it neither goes against the Quran or Sunnah, then it can be declared a good innovation. However, if a new act is initiated against the Qur'an and Sunnah, which will displease Allah :subhanahu: and Prophet Muhammed pbuh, then it will be called bad bid'ah, or a reprehensible innovation.

It is just my opinion.

Spot on this is why I told the Hadees regarding the introduction of a new practice. Last Messenger peace be upon him knew there will be occasions in future when new practices or innovation will have to be adopted in accordance with religious values and principles. Someone has mentioned about the usage of telescopes for moon sighting which is a perfect illustration of a good acceptable bidah.

Thank you dear A,Ali for helping me clarify the confusion, I did not define here word sunnah but gave a link for that. I am not saying we should not follow the prophet but that he only needs to be followed as per commandments of the quran and not in general. Prayers are instructed in the quran so prophet has to be followed. Also I am not saying you reject all collections of ahadith but only those that contradict the quran. That is because a prophet can never do anything deliberately against what Allah wants him to do.

In short what I am trying to explain is, a muslim has a duty to follow the prophet but only when it comes to fulfilling divine commandments. At any other time a muslim is free to do as he pleases. It is like we are supposed to be following the quran but only in matters of dos and don't. The rest is up to ourselves to do as we please. You are working for some one for a purpose and for time or situation. That situation or purpose does not exist all the time but only some times.

The while I am at it the other point I would like to clarify is that there is a priority order of things and it is not right to leave more important duties but follow things that are totally unnecessary. To struggle for establishing deen is of utmost importance, much more than ritualism. So reading nawaafil day and night and paying no attention to learning deen and spreading it is not the right way to go about things.

Today people have turned far too much towards rituals and have totally ignored learning of deen properly and spreading it properly to help gain support for establishing deen or to put it another way, people are far too much worried about pleasing Allah by their rituals rather than trying to establishing the divine goals. So my point in all this is to get people back to the way islam used to be in the time of the prophet.

Thanks against for giving opportunity to clarify thing a bit more. regards and all the best.

Innovation is the essence of human development. Wahabiat is against all innovative thinking. It is this retrogressive, static thinking which has resulted in the muslim intellectual decline and stagnation. These mullah believe in 'context' when it suits them and 'generalise things out of context' when it suits them. They won't let people become independent thinkers as that will reduce their power over people.

this not only you, your grand grand father do the same, if they dont like anyone they just give the Label like Wahhabi etc to scare people
but Allah will show they right path to those who try to seek the right path
given name will not stop any

Mullahs of all hue and shades have destroyed Islam by dividing it into sects and subsects and subsects and everyone among calls only himself right like this little mullah in this video. For the spirit of Islam to come to the fore all mullahs must be given a shut up call!
