Show Cause Notice to Dr Shireen Mazari
You are being charged with making unfounded, inaccurate and false statements in the media
against the Chairman and the party on the evening of 17th September, 2012.
Specific details are as under:
1. The Chairman's flight to DG Khan was delayed by over three hours at Islamabad on 17th
September due to bad weather and you were constantly kept informed.
2. You were requested repeatedly to postpone the visit of the Chairman from 17th to the
morning of the next day that is 18th September. But you were persistent that the Chairman
should visit in the evening of 17th, even if it were only for half an hour, knowing fully well
that this was fraught with uncertainty.
3. When Chairman eventually landed in DG Khan, he was running late to meet his schedule for
the existing programs of DG Khan. Despite that he cut short many programs and also
cancelled a large meeting of party workers who had gathered at Traffic Chowk.
4. He rushed to the airport to be in time for your program. The time of arrival at the airport
was 4:45pm. At the airport a prearranged helicopter that was requisitioned all the way from
Lahore was in place but unfortunately the pilot informed the traveling party that they could
not fly to Rajanpur and back as the time available was short and the rules didn't permit him
legally to fly after 5:40pm.
5. The Chairman made all efforts to visit the flood-affected people of Rajanpur and you were
kept in the loop regarding all the developments.
6. Despite the same you went public, gave interviews to the media demeaning the Chairman
for not doing enough to reach your camp in Rajanpur and gave a totally inaccurate picture
of the Chairman's efforts in not providing relief to the marooned people.
7. Your allegation that the party and its Chairman have been hijacked by
Waderas and
Jageerdars (only because he could not visit your camp) is an insult to the long struggle of
PTI and that of the Chairman.
8. Your statements before the press were inaccurate, unfounded, and defamed the party and
its leadership providing fuel to our political opponents to attack the party with more
spurious allegations. Thus the party image was damaged and it must have demoralized party workers.
In a similar but not as serious an issue the PSC took immediate and unanimous action against Dr
Syed Hasan Raza, Secretary of Sindh PTI on June 2, 2012 suspending him from office pending
inquiry and disciplinary action because he went to the press with unfounded allegations against
some office bearers of the party (not the Chairman whom he praised) and thus violated the Code of Conduct (subsequently his basic membership was also cancelled). You were present in the said meeting and fully subscribed to these deliberations and decisions where the PSC decided to strictly implement this Code across the board.
In view of the foregoing charges please
show cause why action should not be taken against you for going to the press with allegations as described above demeaning the party and its Chairman.
