This guy does not know what he is talking about. There is no substitute to university education. The problem comes because of universities around the world running as businesses and scrambling for students who do not have what it takes to absorb the knowledge cyclone. There should be few high quality universities taking only high ability students. Rest should go to apprenticeship programmes.

apprentice program has other issues. Besides, you need placements which is not possible in Pakistan. Most jobs are now awarded based on status, juggars and sects.
Pakistan does not have a knowledge based economy which can only be created and fed by high quality universities. In the present Pakistani status you don't even 'need' universities; Just good apprenticeship based programs would do. This state of affairs leads people like this idiot to think that higher education does not have any value where in-fact that is the main driver of a 21st century economy.

our culture is more aligned to UK and USA, more proned to greed.
One thing I agree with the german culture. They let people decide. Not everybody is good in academics. Hardly 5% should go to universities and colleges. But in Pakistan, for rishtas, all girls are now in medicine, IT etc.
Pakistan must have trade schools in every town and city, secondly the kids must be taught how to use modern tools. We live in age of high-tech ,a car mechanic must know how to use scanners ,a bricklayer must have modern tools to make his job quicker and easier.
Historically there were two models. UK developed and had the apprenticeship model while French system was predominantly based on more academic based higher education (Mostly because of the dominance of french mathematicians at one time). Americans got the right mix of the two to develop a very successful higher education system. The need in countries like pakistan is to produce quality apprentices and quality academically oriented graduates and reduce the salary gap between the two.

Yes it true. Pakistani were given this mind set of Degree by the British. I know dozens and dozens of Pakistanis here in Canada who have double and triple degrees but don't know how to put number plate on their car.
So many Pakistani degree holders came here in the nineties 95% totally failed ,many went back to Pakistan crying. Compare that with Sikhs who also came at the same time, most of them Farmers but learned skilled very quickly upon arrival ,today I can show you 50% of them are multimillionaires and big business owners.
Many Pakistan beroucrate came ,just for the nationality took leave of absent every year with pay ,sharing the pay, with the boss ,who arranged all that for him. Drove taxi, or security guard, or 7/11job,cried and counted the days. Right on the very day he got the Canadian citizenship card ,the whole family left for Pakistan.
What's wrong with that - They wanted the best of both worlds and got that. Their children have the option to utilize canadian educational system and live there if they want to.

canada has big problems in providing jobs to its immigrants. I won't use it for comparison. There is great saturation in every profession.
