Cricket-Afridi withdraws from tour to West Indies - PCB source

(Reuters) - Pakistan's World Cup captain Shahid Afridi has withdrawn from next month's tour to West Indies, a source at the national cricket board told Reuters on Thursday.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) source, who declined to be identified, said the all-rounder had made himself unavailable for the tour which starts on April 18.

"He will not be going to West Indies as apparently he wants to take a break from the game," said the source.

Afridi retired from test cricket in 2010 but had been expected to play in the one-dayers and Twenty20s in West Indies.

Im not a big fan of afridi... but he has united the team.. so i donno where you are coming from.. have you seen misbah and younis bat? have you seen kamran akmal keeping? have you heard about umar akmal's propganda? its afridi who took us to semis.. none of the others tried as hard

i think afridi is equally responsible. he played more irresponsibly than misbah. his every shot was irresponsible. at that time only afridi was the hope when rate required was above 10. didnt u see the joy on indian faces when afridi was gone ??they knew it only he can do it at that stage
