A Muslim student says she is "emotionally traumatised" after her local college prevented her from enrolling because she wore a veil.
Shawana Bilqes, 18, claims the decision by Burnley College has left her humiliated and has disrupted her studies :o .
Shawana told Sky News: "I was willing to take it off as a compromise for identification checks, security or whatever. But they said I couldn't wear it anywhere on the premises." ["As a compromise!!!" hmmm...Doing a favour on the kafirs..is she?]

In a statement, college Principal John Smith insisted that unimpeded communication with students was impossible if the face was not fully visible. :P 8-)
"All members of the college community should be identifiable at all times when in the college," he said. :P 8-)
[Excellent, we need people like these to confront Islamists]

Shawana insists it is her own choice and right to wear the veil :? . She has been training as a cadet with Lancashire Police and says it has never been a problem to remove the veil in the classroom but wear it outside as long as it is practical.
[There is a possibility that she might be scared of her Father or Brothers, and hence is wearing the veil]
Her 21-year-old sister Nadia, who also wears the veil and studies at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston told Sky News: "It's totally  absurd  to think it is glued to our face, the college can't hide behind the security excuse."

"We are law abiding British citizens. If someone asks us to remove it for identification purposes we will."
[Nope, you will accuse that person of racism, and singling you out...You cannot fool us kafirs anymore, we know all your tricks. 8-) ]
"Those politicians like Jack Straw who've discussed the veil have gone about it the wrong way - it's given everyone leeway to discriminate but that means it's seen as OK to attack anyone who wears the veil, which is a totally unacceptable situation."
[See what i mean... ]
Shawana is now trying to pursue her education elsewhere and hopes the setback will not prevent her from embarking on a medical career.[Hopefully not in Saudi Arabia.]

The smiles you inserted in this news shows your cheap mentality. You talk a lot about freedom, but when it comes about Muslims all your principles changes in no time.

Contra brother,

I feel extremism is bad. Either it is Muslim Extremism or Anti-Muslim Extremism.

Please also make it clear about yourself:

1st: If you are personally against allowing Muslim Women the Veil (Viel of Face)?

2nd: or you are totally against any kind of Hijab (i.e. covering only head hairs and neck, while face is visible)?

We better respect each other instead of confronting each other. And there is no harm in letting the Muslim practice their religion as they want.

How a girl can impose Islamic ideology by simply wearing hijab. It shows how insecure you feel from Muslim ideology.

I find it strange that she is NOT willing to do hijab instead of head to toe burqa. A hijab is just like the burqa but ONLY the face can be seen. As the Univeristy mentioned, they ONLY want her NOT to cover her face. She can cover every other part of the body including hair with a hijab. Even during Haj, face is NOT supposed to be covered. Really can't understand this one mate. :?

1. All non muslims are "kafirs", who are you trying to fool my dear pious muslim?

2.a) Lets just take an example...
During Ramzan, is any person, muslim or non muslim allowed to eat food in a hotel during the fasting time?
We non muslims don't fast during the day, but, because of the orders passed by General Zia ul Haq, hotels are either closed or they dont serve...
b) heard of a church or a temple in Saudi Arabia?

hunter bhai,
1. Who controls the council is something that doesn't matter to me. I believe that this was the right thing to do.
When a religion doesn't consider other religions as equal, it becomes racist too.
Almost all religions are racist.

2. If vast majority of the UK citizens don't have this sort of attitude, then they are not well informed and still don't see the threat that fundamentalist Islam poses to them, their children and their way of life.

3. You can call me what you want, but, I write what i write because i fear the ideology of Islam. I am damn scared when i read about the Sharia law, etc.
And i get more scared when the so called moderate muslims also want that their countries should be governed by Sharia Law.

Everybody says, well hey...the religion is being taken out of context. Well, if every honest scholar of Islam is saying the same thing, and interpreting the law in roughly the same manner, then how can you say this.

4. Your friends, the Afghan Taliban, carried out some horrendous atrocities when they were in power, still people in Pakistan support them...

She should have the right to wear veil if she chooses to do so. She is willing to comply with security issues. She must be identified by all students at all times is not a valid argument if an identity is necessary i am sure she will not have any issues with wearing a name tag she appears to be a reasonable lady. At the same time she must understand when she joins any work force after graduation she must abide by the rules of her employer. Contra i do not see any reason why she should not be allowed to wear a veil. I am a humanist first and foremost and believe in respecting the rights of others as long as they don't infringe mine.

1. Hello, could you please tell me which country are you from?

2. You need to know how these people operate(Islamists).
If she is allowed to wear the veil, under the condition, that she has to present proof of identity whenever demanded by the security officers, she will allege harrasment. She will say that she is being targeted because she is a muslim woman wearing a veil.
They try to bring in Sharia through the back door.

---These kinda incidents will not deter people from the truth :ugeek: as you may have witnessed immediately after 9/11,living proof in this very century for all to see and learn that despite such horrendous attempts people still turned to Islam and will keep on doing so,they would simply not fall victims to some soul plays and propaganda of Insecurities being devilishly played. :) ..You can't deny reality for long,i mean you personally may even after seeing all,by looking at stats, but facts will not change at all and the World will keep going at it's pace and only left behind would be unfortunately loosers :)

--You are again not informed enough to know all Abrahamic religions ( Judaism,Christianity and Islam) have Capital Punishments and followers of such religions would not deny em at any cost :ugeek: ..Only point is implementation. :D
you can look around even in this world and system people are punished and put to death for breaking man made laws :)

---We see in West a lot have come to terms with this notion and idea of dressing modestly and have proved their understanding of "Religious freedom" in a responsible way and yet still some tom, dick and harry persist on being taken as amateurs and idiots :D

yes ofcourse.

only your idiot posts showing your idiotic thoughts, and producing hate among all the muslims, for this, only you are responsible.

ALL THE TIME PEOPLE TELL U THE TRUE FACE OF ISLAM AND PICTURE BUT YOU DIDNT GET ANYTHING FROM THEM, ALWAYS STAY IN DENIAL MODE, WHICH IS NOW DISGUSSTING AND I AM NOT GONNA WASTING MY EVEN A SINGLE WORD ON YOU. IF YOU WANNA KNOW ABOUT ISLAM AND TRUE PICTURE OF ISLAM AND ITS APPLICATION THEN PLZ COME BY OPEN MIND.
