What is Hajj? The literal meaning of Hajj is to debate or argue. All the verses related to Hajj in the Quran address mankind as a whole, not just Muslims or believers. This suggests that the Hajj is meant for everyone. Nowhere in the Quran does Allah command people to circumambulate the Kaaba, to kiss the Black Stone (which is not mentioned in the Quran), or to run between the two hills, Safa and Marwah, seven times. The rituals also include traveling from Mina to Arafat, then to Muzdalifah, collecting pebbles to cast at the three pillars in Mina known as Jamarat, and wearing the Ihram garment while exposing one shoulder.
Can someone explain how individuals benefit from performing all these rituals?
