Abdul Aleem Khan almost wins Lahore President Seat leads by 40 votes while Hafiz Farhat leads by 17 votes for General Secretary as Count Continues but almost complete.
PTI Elections Lahore were held today at the Aiwan-i-Iqbal. As many as 1990 voters cast their votes for Lahore district. Each voter was provided two ballot papers to choose 48 leaders, 30 to elect district office-bearers and 18 to elect tehsil and town office-bearers. The voters were directed to carry their national identity cards.
In Lahore, four candidates were in the race for president and three for general secretary.
The Unity Group had fielded Abdul Aleem Khan for president and Abdul Rasheed Bhatti for general secretary. Mehmoodur Rasheed and Hafiz Farhat Abbas were of the Ideology Group candidates for Lahore president and general secretary. Farooq Amjad Mir of the Tsunami Change Movement and Rana Naveed from the Student Group were also running for president. Hammad Azhar was an independent candidate for general secretary.
No affiliations with anyone but i really feel Sorry for Mehmood ur Rasheed, he had been dedicatedly, working hard for the last 10 years for the party and it is sad to see him loose, But this is what Election is somebody has to win and somebody to loose.
Most of the results are upsets, and favorites are getting beaten, I am afraid it may not create a rift in the party. Since in our society and our mentality, admitting defeat and then cooperating with the winners is never easy.
