ISLAMABAD: A man armed with an assault rifle opened fire on Jinnah Avenue here on Thursday.


The man in a black Toyota Carolla fired shots into the air. TV footage also showed a woman and two children in the car.


The woman could be seen going back and forth between the vehicle and the police contingent present at the site. The woman told police that the man identified as Sikander was her husband and would only negotiate with a high-ranking police official.


SSP operations, Dr Rizwan walked over to the indivudial and negotiated with him to lay down his weapons.


Police have surrounded the area and traffic has been blocked.

Looks like suspended or in service police , IB person.Media pressing police to kill him by criticizing their delay tactics. In Europe negociations some times continue more than 24 hours.

The longer it goes on, the more likely it is that the kids in the car will be recovered safely

Whatever he is, there are innocent kids there Let it take as long as it takes but make sure the kids are recovered
