Society and Government have NO obligation to recognize you.
What pearl of wisdom one might have found after basic learning -- Even if that was true, literature and scholarship have to show and prove its own worth (and primarily be worthy for writer's self and then for the consumers).
Society at large (including government) has no duty - if One's work is worthy that will prove itself.
Performing and visual arts are different matters since that is in part a skill as well. Society have to provide venues for learning skills and cover expenditures for these skills to groom artists.
