Only people who came to Paksitan after 1952 and settled in Sindh are the ones who keep on trumpting Muhajirism.

Funny thing, they all came from various parts of "India" hundreds of miles apart, but someone speaking Urdu, sets them apart,

However there are more Urdu Speakers who call themselves Pakistani than there are those who call themselves "Mohajir".

Being born in Karachi/Sindh, never leaving it and dying there is Mohajir is which language ?

200 years from now, will they still call themselves Mohajir ?

You are absolutely right FIVE times as many people moved from East Punjab to West, including members of my own family, who were literally few miles in "India"

It is very convenient for MQM to say that does not count somehow,

except if you knew such people personally, then you know how much it mattered to them and they gave up everything to be Pakistani. To demean that simply because they moved from one part of Punjab to another is an insult to what they did ;)

i agree from both of you & am not willing to argument about it because it`s out of subject. but my family including lots of people migrated from india to Lahore, pakistan and then in karachi in 1947. although panjab is the nearest place but due to loving heart with Muhammad Ali Jinah most of people preferred their migration in karachi & karachi was the capital of pakistan. but Muhammad Ali Jinah spent his last days of life in Ziaraat and he moved from karachi to ziarat.

Great Article - The most astute analysis so far I read ,Everything mentioned in it almost Truth -Just to add -I myself from such family which is blend of different races and now known as Urdu Speaking -When I was little kid back home we were really fascinated by MqM s election campaigns I still remember one great incident of my life which changed my whole concept about Mahajir though it might appear petty to others but for me it changed my whole perspective - ,I once asked my Mother (who was born in India ) that Amee Aap MQM ko vote daina -( Mother ,give vote to MQM ) ,She asked me KYON -(why) I said - Kyon k Hum mahajir Hein (because we are mahajir ) She said Kia tum India me paida hoi Thee (did you born in India) I SAID Nahee (No) She then said one great sentence -PHIR TUM MAHAJIR KAISE HOGAI ,TUM MAHAJIR NAI HO TUM PAKISTAN ME PAIDA HOI AOR TUM PAKISTANEE HO --- (then how could you be Mahajir ,You are born in Pakistan and you are Pakistani) ---This one Sentence Changed my ideas in such a small age ,It seems unbelievable for me as my Mother was uneducated ,born in india ,left all relations in India for my Father and never went back till deaths of her Parents -so I ALWAYS SAY I AM Muslim and PAKISTANI and If you still want label for me Then I am Karachittee too ,but I am not MAHAJIR ,I m born in Pakistan and I am Pakistani .

Being urdu speaking and Pakistani or Punjabi and Pakistani or pakhtoon and pakistani or Balochi and Pakistani or sindhi and Pakistani is not a bad thing but when you insist ob on your sub nationality so much that it takes precedence over your Pakistani identity then it becomes objectionable.Sindhi will never stop speaking Sindhi or pathans pakhto or balochi.it is thta we have to accept all with open heart and learn to live with each other.Which is not very difficult if you are accomodating.:)

مگر اصل میں یہ تنظیم الطاف نے نہیں بنائی بنانے والے ، جناب رئیس امروہوی ، ایس ایم نقی ، اور دوسرے شیعہ دانشور تھے ، سنی مہاجر دانشوروں کی بڑی تعداد جماعت اسلامی اور شاہ احمد نورانی صاحب کی جماعت میں تھی، ( پلیز شیعہ بھائی اس بات کو منفی انداز میں نا لیں ) ، متحدہ کے قیام سے مندرجہ بالا دونوں جماعت کو نقصان پہنچا ، غالباً فوج بھی پی پی پی کو سندھ دیہی اور شہر کراچی /حدرآباد میں ان مذہبی جماعتوں کو نقصان پہنچانا چاہتی تھی لہذا متحدہ کا ڈرامہ رچایا گیا ،
