برطانوی ممبر پارلیمنٹ جارج گیلوے زخمی

لندن: کل جمعہ کی شام کو لندن کی ایک اسٹریٹ پر بائیں بازو کے ونگ سے تعلق رکھنے والے برطانوی رکن پارلیمنٹ جارج گیلوے پر نامعلوم شخص نے حملہ کردیا۔

عالمی خبررساں ادارے اے ایف پی کا کہنا ہے کہ ایک شخص نے ہولوکاسٹ کے بارے میں چیختے ہوئے کچھ کہا اور جارج گیلوے پر حملہ کردیا۔ جارج اس وقت لوگوں کے ساتھ تصویر بنوا رہے تھے، اور اسی دوران یہ شخص ان پر حملہ آور ہوگیا۔

حملہ آور جست لگا کر ان کی طرف بڑھا اور ان کے چہرے پر مکّے برسانا شروع کردیے۔ جس کے نتیجے میں وہ شدید زخمی ہوگئے اور انہیں ہسپتال منتقل کردیا گیا۔
ہسپتال کے ذرائع کا کہنا ہے کہ حملے کے باعث گیلوے کا جبڑا ٹوٹ گیا اور ان کے سر پر بھی شدید چوٹ آئی ہے۔

دوسری جانب پولیس نے دعوی کیا ہے کہ برطانوی رکن پارلیمنٹ پر حملہ کرنےو الے شخص کو گرفتار کر لیا گیا ہے۔

یاد رہے کہ بریڈفورڈ سے تعلق رکھنے والے جارج گیلووے نے برطانوی پارلیمنٹ میں اسرائیلی جارحیت کے خلاف آواز اُٹھائی تھی۔ انہوں نے غزہ پر حملوں کے حوالے سے اسرائیل کو جنگی مجرم قرار دیا تھا ۔

جارج گیلوے کو اس ماہ کے اوائل میں ان کی ایک تقریر کے سلسلے میں سوال جواب کے لیے طلب کیا تھا، انہوں نے اپنی تقریر میں کہا تھا کہ بریڈ فورڈ اسرائیل سے پاک علاقہ ہے۔

Controversial Respect MP George Galloway has been taken to hospital for treatment to a suspected broken jaw after he was attacked in the street, his spokesman said.

Mr Galloway, who has also suffered a suspected broken rib and severe bruising to his face and head, was posing for pictures with people in Golborne Road, Notting Hill, west London, when a man shouted a comment about the Holocaust and attacked him, according to the spokesman.

Police were quickly on the scene and made an arrest.

Mr Galloway was taken to St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, where he is expected to remain overnight.

His spokesman said: "George was posing for pictures with people and this guy just attacked him, leapt on him and started punching him.


"It appears to be connected with his comments about Israel because the guy was shouting about the Holocaust."
The spokesman did not know whether the attacker was an Israeli, an EDL-supporter or had some other motivation for attacking the Bradford West MP.

Mr Galloway was interviewed earlier this month by West Yorkshire Police following a speech in Leeds in which he claimed Bradford was an Israeli-free area.

The spokesman said Mr Galloway had described himself as being "in a pretty bad shape".
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Police were called at approximately 1940 hours to Golborne Road, W10, after a man was assaulted in the street.

"Officers attended. The suspect was found a short time later and stopped.

"He was arrested on suspicion of ABH (actual bodily harm) and taken to the south London police station where he remains."
In 2008 Mr Galloway was pelted with a rubber stress ball as he was campaigning in an open-top bus in London.

The firebrand politician received medical treatment but was not taken to hospital.
A man was arrested and cautioned over the incident.
