This kind of emotional thread coming from a man is a shock in itself, had it been a girl it would have been more comprehensible. When one leaves home, they should be focused on the tasks ahead, the value of time increases many folds because one has to make every minute count, especially when you are living away from the family. Nothing can replace the valuable time one spends with their family. But once you have made a career choice then you should stick to it and stay focused. That's my take on living abroad. Relish the time you spend with your family, but when away make sure that you do justice with what you are doing. Spending Eid/Ramadan with family is a blessing no doubt about that, but life is all about compromises and one should not be so sensitive about it. :)
