The Marathi brigades have slammed Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan for "praising Pakistan". While Shiv Sena patriarch Bal Thackeray unleashed a scathing attack on the actor, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray advocated banning his movies in the country.
In an editorial in Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna, Thackeray senior questioned the integrity of SRK. The vitriolic editorial alleged that Khan enjoyed the patronage of Gandhi family and could stoop to any low to show his love for Pakistan.
"Dancer Shah Rukh Khan lives in India, earns his living here. Working here, he has earned name and fame across the world as the Badshah of Bollywood. But despite this, he does not miss out on any opportunity to belittle India and sings songs in praise of Pakistan as he enjoys Congress protection," the editorial reads.
Raising the pitch the editorial used the sombre occasion of 26/11 anniversary to drive home its hate campaign against SRK. The editorial said that while the entire nation would be paying homage to the 26/11 martyrs, SRK would be dancing at a function in London.
The editorial ends on a harsh note: "Teaching a lesson to the likes of Shah Rukh Khan will be a true homage to the 26/11 martyrs."
Like his uncle, Thackeray junior too criticised Khan saying people like him "will never improve".
"These people will never improve. You have to just ban their films. Ban their films or else they will not improve at all," the MNS chief said.
