Imran Khan announces to challenge NRO in Supreme Court after the case of PCO judges is decided

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) said military operation in Malakand Division was a wrong step adding it should however continue till the restoration of government writ therein.

PTI chief said this while addressing a seminar held here Tuesday in National Press Club entitled "Challenges facing the national security, their solution".

He held National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) was a license of corruption given to the rich people. PTI would file a writ against NRO in Supreme Court after the case of judges was decided in the apex court, he announced.

He alleged Karachi city was held hostage in the hands of MQM. This party had disrupted the peace of Karachi and was indulged in extorting billion of rupees daily from the citizens of Karachi, he added. Altaf Hussain was facing case in London. "We hope action would be taken against him". Altaf Hussain should come to Pakistan and face the cases instituted against him instead of preaching for patriotism while sitting in London, he stressed.

It was very strange a religious party JUI-F on one hand was sitting in the corridors of power and on the other hand it was opposing military operation in Swat.

Calling into question the results of February 18 general elections, he said these results were a sheer drama and were compiled at the behest of US. "Decision for boycotting the election on our part was correct", he remarked.

Tax was levied on the poor segments of society but the rich strata were exempted, he regretted. Tax be imposed on agriculture, industry and stock exchange too, he demanded.

Peace would remain elusive in Pakistan unless US forces were pulled out from Afghanistan, he held. Following the withdrawal of US troops, a government of mutual understanding be installed in Afghanistan, he demanded.

He pointed out senator Admiral Mike Mullen had acknowledged in US senate session that drone attacks were being conducted with the permission of government of Pakistan.

He noted ongoing war on terror had never remained our war. But the rulers were pitching army against the people in this so-called war against terrorism for their personal gains, he charged.

Those who fought in Waziristan operation in 2004 were not Taliban, he said adding it was our army, which created Taliban by targeting citizens. Pakistan army was targeting its own citizens the way NATO forces were shelling in Afghanistan, he accused.

Over 60 percent area of Afghanistan was still under the occupation of Taliban, he held. Pakistan had spent over $40 billion in war on terror and our 200000 troops were engaged in this war, he indicated. While Pakistan was being paid compensation of this war only $1.5 billion per annum, he told.

He alleged 3 million people were displaced in Swat to kill 5000 Taliban. Government should complete Swat operation as soon as possible, he stressed. If the writ of government would not be restored now then we would have no future, he warned.
