Karachi death toll reaches 33 in 48 hours

KARACHI: Violence blamed on political and ethnic tensions in Karachi has killed 33 people in consecutive nights of bloody murders, officials said Thursday.
“We have received reports that another nine people have fallen victim to targeted killings overnight, putting the death toll at 33 in two days,” said Sharfuddin Memon, a home ministry official in the southern province of Sindh.
He said police were hunting those involved and had detained several suspects since Wednesday.
A security official said several neighbourhoods were still tense and sounds of intermittent gunfire could still be heard.
Local residents complained they were virtually confined to their homes because of indiscriminate firing.
“Many people here had run out of their food stocks. There is no milk for children and no chance of patients being shifted to hospitals for treatment,” said Mohammad Asghar, a schoolteacher in the Orangi area.
“We are left at the mercy of trigger-happy scoundrels and the security forces are conspicuous by their absence,” he added.
Memon insisted, however, that police and paramilitary were on patrol in the troubled neighbourhoods.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan says 490 people have been killed in targeted killings so far this year, compared to 748 in 2010 and 272 in 2009.

KARACHI: At least ten people were killed and 15 others injured when unidentified miscreants opened fire at a passing passenger vehicle in Banaras area of the city Thursday evening.
An hour earlier today, three people were killed in a firing incident at a passing bus near Metro Cinema in Orangi Town area of the metropolis, raising the death toll to 17 within two hours.
The latest killings pushed the death tally in the city to 58 in the last three days and todays overall number mounted to 21.
Rescue teams are shifting the bodies and the injured to nearby hospitals by private vehicles and ambulances of Edhi and Chhipa.
Meantime, the firing is getting intense every passing moment here. SAMAA

Allah reham karay. Jab yeh soog manatay hain tou pooray karachi ko matam per majboor kardetay hain. I still remember those days when this bhagoora was calling for strikes in karachi from London every day for several weeks and my father was finding it hard to keep his job. One day he dared to go to his factory and picked some of his colleagues along the way. They were all stopped near Kala Board and our car was vandalized. My father had to drive back home with broken headlights and doors along and punctured tire all the way back home. His sector incharge terrorist would make sure that they impose the strike on the city that never wanted to be a part of it. In our area that was ethnically partial his agents would make sure that every shop is closed. Curse of Allah on those who deprive the poor from their bread and butter for their political gain and yet do not dare to face the hardship for them.
MQM is real political party is the only party for poor people. Rest of them are fraud. GA MQM- GA Altaf Hussain.

Instead of consoling, our Pakistani brothers are trying to ascertain blame on MQM, and rubbing salt into our wounds. People are stuck at homes and fear for their lives, the areas where these Pakhtun terrorists are fully active like Qasbah colony, Kati Pahari, Benaras have made those areas a war zone. People are being forced to abandon their homes and leave the area, no electricity, no water, no food supplies to somehow wait this war being forced by these thugs, if this was'nt enuff these terrorists are now firing at innocent bystanders and passengers travelling in buses, bringing their bloody primitive culture to a tolerant cosmopolitan which feeds everyone, these thugs have made a mess of their province and now threatening a major economic hub of Pakistan. They are using bori band laash tactics of the 90s to try to create fear among local populations and political parties, they look like foreigner Afghanis hired by Gandhi party AP to wreak havoc in the city to start a new sort of power struggle and a followup bloodbath where all citizens are being threatened, and murder as many innocents as they can, take a look at this footage and see their open firing on innocent people:
