With the BJPs youth wing planning to hoist the Tricolour at Srinagars historic Lal Chowk, the chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Yasin Malik, has a sent a word of caution. Malik said that if the BJP tried to hoist the flag, We will see who will hoist the flag and whose flag it would be.

Saying that the BJPs move to unfurl the Tricolour at Lal Chowk is a grave provocation, Malik said, It would not be their flag that will be hoisted in Lal Chowk. He made the remarks at a seminar UN resolution: legal base of Kashmir dispute organised by Hurriyat doves here on Tuesday.

Maliks threat came after the BJPs youth wing Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha announced to start a Rashtriya Ekta Yatra from West Bengal to Jammu and Kashmir. The Morcha has said that it would start the yatra from Kolkata on January 12 and end it with hoisting the Tricolour at Lal Chowk in Srinagar on January 26.

Making a reference to the former PM and BJP leader A B Vajpayee, Malik accused the party of again following the beaten track. Vajpayee declared that his government will not follow the beaten track but will turn into innovative designers of a future architecture of peace and prosperity, Malik said. We hoped that BJP remembered promises of Vajpayee. But they are following the beaten track again.

J&K bars BJP bid to hoist flag in Srinagar

The Jammu and Kashmir government will not allow hoisting of the tricolour by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha activists at the historic Lal Chowk here on Republic Day.
This was decided at a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, Mr Omar Abdullah, in Jammu on Thursday. A statement said the government had directed the civil and police authorities to ensure that law and order was not disturbed ahead of Republic Day and it was decided that no programme which had the potential of vitiating the peaceful atmosphere in the state will be allowed.
The meeting was convened by Mr Abdullah after his brief New Delhi visit recently, where he discussed the matter with the Union home minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, and the Congress president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi.
The government plans to seal Srinagars Lal Chowk ahead of January 26, when the pro-independence JKLF has called for a Lal Chowk chalo march. Key separatist leaders are likely to be taken into preventive custody.
Back in Jammu, the states winter capital, Mr Abdullah reviewed the situation with senior Cabinet colleagues belonging to both the National Conference and the Congress. He directed that while the Republic Day should be celebrated with full fervour and enthusiasm, elements bent upon disturbing law and order should be dealt with sternly and directions to this effect should be passed on to district authorities as well, an official spokesperson said.
Official sources said the Rashtriya Ekta Yatra, which began from Kolkata last week, was expected to reach Srinagar on January 26. Sangh Parivar activists led by the BJYM president, Mr Anurag Thakur, also plan to hoist the tricolour at Lakhanpur on the states border with Punjab. In New Delhi, the BJP senior leader, Mr L.K. Advani, said the flag-hoisting was in not to challenge the state government but the separatists.

Even an attempt to hoist the Indian flag can lead to a violence so the BJP should think a hundred times before even daring to do something as such.
