SWANSEA: A cricket umpire has died after being struck on the head by a ball.
Alcwyn Jenkins, 72, collapsed after the blow during a Welsh cricket league match in Swansea on Saturday.
The game between Swansea and Llangennech in the South Wales Association's Division One was abandoned. `
`He was one of the oldest umpires and he was a smashing guy, a real character,'' said Eddie Blake, who was umpiring another league match in Wales at the time. ``It is just unbelievable.''
