Ubuntu for phones was demoed today and looks very cool, personally i am very excited about getting my hands on it to test it out. Only concern is the lack of support from hardware manufacturers, even those who have traditionally supported Ubuntu, like Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, but to be fair, none of those companies are really in the smartphone market. Asus and Lenovo are coming into it but not very prominent names. HP tried there own handset the hp pre (web OS) but was badly received and HP had to abandon a beautiful crafted OS.
Without support of hardware manufacturers, the OS will be relegated to enthusiasts, but the video shows that there is enough in the OS that it could get hardware support. If it does get hardware support, is it enough to make a push in the Android/iOS dominated market ?. But, i am totally optimistic and definitely think that its gonna shake the phone OS market.

looking clean and simple; the trade mark of Ubuntu.

More intresting is the MeeGo based phones that would be coming in market very soon as well; if any one has seen or used N9 he would definitely agree with me, N9 OS was so beautiful, Jolla is promising the same about the upcoming sailfish and from what I ve seen they are being quite successful.
