PESHAWAR: Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Tuesday burned a huge quantity of cloth taken from shopkeepers, saying it was too thin to be made into suitably modest garments, officials said.
The militants stormed shops in Wana, the main town of the lawless South Waziristan tribal region, which borders Afghanistan, and made a bonfire of the cloth in a public area near the bazaar.
Shopkeeper Rahimullah Khan told AFP that at least eight armed men burst into his premises and took away bundles of raw cloth that they said was too thin to make respectable clothing.
They said it was un-Islamic to wear clothes that dont properly cover the human body, Khan said.
A local official in Wana who declined to be named said the perpetrators were from TTP, adding that shop owners calculated thousands of metres of material had been destroyed.
The men confiscated big bundles of raw cloth which they declared was too thin to wear from dozens of shopkeepers in the main bazaar and burnt them, he told AFP.
They had warned shopkeepers almost a week ago to stop selling un-Islamic cloth. Today, the TTP militants stormed the shops and confiscated the rolls.
Taliban militants in Pakistan have often targeted shops selling music and films that they say break Islamic moral codes.
Pakistans military launched a major offensive in South Warizistan, part of the federally-administered tribal area, in 2009 to tackle Taliban and Al-Qaeda linked groups.

یہ فرمائیے کہ طالبان کے اس علاقے میں کونسی لڑکیاں یہ باریک کپڑے پہنتی ہیں جو انہوں نے اس علاقے میں باریک کپڑے کو آگ لگا دی ہے؟

اگر آپ طالبان کی طرح انتہا پسندی کا شکار نہیں ہیں تو یہ بات آپ کی سمجھ میں آ جانی چاہیے کہ برائی "باریک کپڑے" میں نہیں ہے بلکہ اسکے "استعمال" میں ہے۔ گھروں کے اندر اس گرمی کے موسم میں کہ جب بجلی بھی نہیں ہوتی، اگر خواتین باریک کپڑا استعمال کرنا چاہیں تو آپ کو یا آپکی چہیتی طالبان کو کیا تکلیف ہے؟ یہی پاگل پن طالبان نے اُس وقت دکھایا تھا جب انہوں نے ہندؤوں پر پابندی لگا دی تھی کہ وہ صرف زرد رنگ کا کپڑا پہنیں اور باقی رنگ کے کپڑے پہننے پر انہیں مارا جائے گا، اور یوں طالبان اقلیتیوں کو تضحیک کا نشانہ بناتے تھے۔ مگر اس پر بھی انکے انتہا پسند بھائی بند سبحان اللہ کہتے ہوئے طالبان کو داد دے رہے ہوتے تھے۔

اور آپ لوگوں کی منافقت کی بھی کوئی حد ہے؟ ایک طرف کہہ رہے ہوتے ہیں کہ پاکستانی طالبان جو خود کش حملے میں ہزاروں معصوموں کو قتل کر رہی ہوتی ہے تو وہ سی آئی اے اور را کی ایجنٹ ہے۔ مگر دوسری طرف جب وہ باریک کپڑے کو آگ لگا رہی ہوتی ہے تو آپ کی نظر میں وہ اسلام کی محافط ہے اور اسکے لیے داد و تحسین پیش کی جا رہی ہوتی ہے۔
