First-ever parade at Chaman border on Independence Day

KARACHI: Independence Day celebrations are in full swing across the country while a first-ever parade has been organized at Chaman border.
A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the office of the District Nazim in Hyderabad while similar events are being held in the city.
Parliamentarian Secretary Railways, Noman Sheikh hoisted the flag at Jinnah Municipal Stadium to inaugurate the days celebrations in Sukkur.
Houses and streets have been decorated with national flags in Jamshoro, Tando Alahyar and Ghotki besides adjacent cities. Pak Navys officials and civilians took part in a boat-rowing contest in the Indus River near Lance Down Bridge.
Similar flag-hoisting events were also celebrated in Jacobabad, Badin, Ghotki and Nawabshah. Heavy downpour continued in Thatha during the central event of the Independence Day.
The central event was held at DCO House in Larkana. In Faisalabad the central event of the flag-hoisting ceremony was held at Commissioner Office where Rana Sanaullah, the Provincial Law Minister was the chief guest.
The Independence Day celebrations are also underway in Rahimyar Khan, Sargodha, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, DG Khan and Jhang. In Multan the central event of the flag hoisting was held outside the DCO office. In Hub the largest industrial city of Balochistan event to celebrate the Independence Day begun with flag-hoisting ceremony.
Independence Day festivities are also in full swing in Khuzdar, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad and Sibbi. A first-ever parade was organized at Bab-e-Dosti at Pak-Afghan border in Chaman. Later, the border was opened for all kind of the traffic.
DCO, Pasand Khan Baledi hoisted the flag at Gwadar port in a celebration marking the 63rd Independence Day. Lt. General, Nadeem Ahmed, the head of the special support group hoisted the flag at Jalozai Camp in Nowshera District, NWFP.
Flag-hoisting ceremonies were also held in DI Khan, Hangu, Mansehra and Kohat. Muthir Zaib Khan, the political agent in Northern Waziristan hoisted the flag at Miranshah to inaugurate the celebrations. The Independence Day is also being celebrated in Karak and Tank.
In Muzafarabad the central flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the President House in which Raja Zulqarnen, President Azad Kashmir hoisted the flag and announced a 90 day remission for the prisoners. People prayed for the national integrity on Independence Day in Kotli, Mirpur, Skardu and Ghadar.
