Neither are the Sharifs stupid, nor are PMLN followers dumb.

The Sharif Family

Sharifs are well versed with the art of money laundering, Entire documentaries have been made on their business practices.

They know what they did, and they know what they need to hide. That is why you will find Hussian Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif talking about everything under the sun, even their grandfather's decades old small shop....but will never talk about the 90s. They know that the 90s are untouchable, because that decade includes a long list of loan write offs, misuse of authority, money laundering, stashing wealth in offshore havens, and financial kickbacks.

PMLN Voters

PMLN voter base is largely composed of illiterate people, who are commandeered by a small set of mafia style leaders.

There is a separate and extremely small set of educated voters, who somehow stick with the Sharifs only because of their business acumen, and because of the fact that the Sharifs tend to rely heavily on cash loans from lenders, which provides these voters/members with business opportunities to try out at the expense of public funds.

It is my belief that even if Nawaz Sharif is found guilty of money laundering and financial crimes as a result of this judicial commission, his popularity among his voters will not be affected. You will not find voters deserting Nwaaz Sharif enmasse. As a matter of fact, the illiterate segment of the voters will support him even more vigorously, and will fight any attempt to jail him, or bring him to task.

Hence, I sadly believe that other than a brief embarrassing episode, the Sharifs will not be affected by this scandal, and may even come out stronger, for all we know. That speaks volumes about the sad state of affairs of our law enforcement, judiciary, institutions in general, and general populace.
