Saudis mobilise thousands of troops to quell growing revolt

Saudi Arabia was yesterday drafting up to 10,000 security personnel into its north-eastern Shia Muslim provinces, clogging the highways into Dammam and other cities with busloads of troops in fear of next week's "day of rage" by what is now called the "Hunayn Revolution".

Saudi Arabia's worst nightmare the arrival of the new Arab awakening of rebellion and insurrection in the kingdom is now casting its long shadow over the House of Saud. Provoked by the Shia majority uprising in the neighbouring Sunni-dominated island of Bahrain, where protesters are calling for the overthrow of the ruling al-Khalifa family, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia is widely reported to have told the Bahraini authorities that if they do not crush their Shia revolt, his own forces will.

The opposition is expecting at least 20,000 Saudis to gather in Riyadh and in the Shia Muslim provinces of the north-east of the country in six days, to demand an end to corruption and, if necessary, the overthrow of the House of Saud. Saudi security forces have deployed troops and armed police across the Qatif area where most of Saudi Arabia's Shia Muslims live and yesterday would-be protesters circulated photographs of armoured vehicles and buses of the state-security police on a highway near the port city of Dammam.

Although desperate to avoid any outside news of the extent of the protests spreading, Saudi security officials have known for more than a month that the revolt of Shia Muslims in the tiny island of Bahrain was expected to spread to Saudi Arabia. Within the Saudi kingdom, thousands of emails and Facebook messages have encouraged Saudi Sunni Muslims to join the planned demonstrations across the "conservative" and highly corrupt kingdom. They suggest and this idea is clearly co-ordinated that during confrontations with armed police or the army next Friday, Saudi women should be placed among the front ranks of the protesters to dissuade the Saudi security forces from opening fire.

If the Saudi royal family decides to use maximum violence against demonstrators, US President Barack Obama will be confronted by one of the most sensitive Middle East decisions of his administration. In Egypt, he only supported the demonstrators after the police used unrestrained firepower against protesters. But in Saudi Arabia supposedly a "key ally" of the US and one of the world's principal oil producers he will be loath to protect the innocent.

So far, the Saudi authorities have tried to dissuade their own people from supporting the 11 March demonstrations on the grounds that many protesters are "Iraqis and Iranians". It's the same old story used by Ben Ali of Tunisia and Mubarak of Egypt and Bouteflika of Algeria and Saleh of Yemen and the al-Khalifas of Bahrain: "foreign hands" are behind every democratic insurrection in the Middle East.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Mr Obama will be gritting their teeth next Friday in the hope that either the protesters appear in small numbers or that the Saudis "restrain" their cops and security; history suggests this is unlikely. When Saudi academics have in the past merely called for reforms, they have been harassed or arrested. King Abdullah, albeit a very old man, does not brook rebel lords or restive serfs telling him to make concessions to youth. His 27bn bribe of improved education and housing subsidies is unlikely to meet their demands.

An indication of the seriousness of the revolt against the Saudi royal family comes in its chosen title: Hunayn. This is a valley near Mecca, the scene of one of the last major battles of the Prophet Mohamed against a confederation of Bedouins in AD630. The Prophet won a tight victory after his men were fearful of their opponents. The reference in the Koran, 9: 25-26, as translated by Tarif el-Khalidi, contains a lesson for the Saudi princes: "God gave you victory on many battlefields. Recall the day of Hunayn when you fancied your great numbers.

"So the earth, with all its wide expanse, narrowed before you and you turned tail and fled. Then God made his serenity to descend upon his Messenger and the believers, and sent down troops you did not see and punished the unbelievers." The unbelievers, of course, are supposed in the eyes of the Hunayn Revolution to be the King and his thousand princes.

Like almost every other Arab potentate over the past three months, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia suddenly produced economic bribes and promised reforms when his enemy was at the gates. Can the Arabs be bribed? Their leaders can, perhaps, especially when, in the case of Egypt, Washington was offering it the largest handout of dollars $1.5bn (800m) after Israel. But when the money rarely trickles down to impoverished and increasingly educated youth, past promises are recalled and mocked. With oil prices touching $120 a barrel and the Libyan debacle lowering its production by up to 75 per cent, the serious economic and moral, should this interest the Western powers question, is how long the "civilised world" can go on supporting the nation whose citizens made up almost all of the suicide killers of 9/11?

The Arabian peninsula gave the world the Prophet and the Arab Revolt against the Ottomans and the Taliban and 9/11 and let us speak the truth al-Qa'ida. This week's protests in the kingdom will therefore affect us all but none more so than the supposedly conservative and definitely hypocritical pseudo-state, run by a company without shareholders called the House of Saud.

Protests build across Saudi Arabia

By Abeer Allam in Riyadh
Published: March 4 2011 22:05 | Last updated: March 4 2011 22:05

Demonstrators staged a rare rally after Friday prayers in Riyadh, marking the first such protest in the Saudi capital, as the kingdom braced itself for an Egypt-inspired “Friday of Rage” next week.
Meanwhile, small protests continued in the oil-rich Eastern Province towns of al-Ahsa and Qateef, with demonstrators demanding the release of political prisoners.

In Riyadh, security helicopters hovered over protesters gathered in front of Al-Rajhi mosque, in the east of the capital, in what an unknown opposition group described as a “Friday of mobilisation”.
Some protesters chanted “thieves, thieves, where is the 200bn”, “God is great”, and “God will destroy the arrogant and unjust”, as well as “peaceful, peaceful

For decades the Saudi's have been enforcing their oppressive brand of Islam on nations like Pakistan causing divisions amongst our people so i for one look forward to these self appointed saviours of the Deen to experience the same suffering!. Payback especially by the divine source is something to be avoided!

These people from the "House of Saud" have had this coming for a long time, trying to crush any revolt in Bahrain or elsewhere shall only create greater problems for these ignorant people so better let nature take it's own course. Your time is coming to an end like all corrupt regimes so depart in peace now or the people will force you into coffins!

I totally agree with you that there is a difference between the north African Countries and KSA. 'But What do you say to distribution of wealth and power?

Just a few years back, I fell from my seat, knowing that Shia were 60% in Iraq, then once more I fell from my Seat Knowing that there is a huge offset in Kuwait too.
Then same thing happened to me when I came to know about Bahrian.

Now my Dam butt hurts after falling from my seat so often , knowing there is a considerable Shia population in KSA, big enough, that the KSA government is sending in 10,000 Armed Security forces.

Just a few years back, I was very confidant that the only population of Shia were in Iran, and parts of Indo Pak.

Its not about the Shia Sunni in the mid-eastern revolutions. They are fighting for their rights against these kings , dictators, sheikhs & khalifas.
There are lot Shias in KSA. There is huge fighting between them for years in the Nijran area. I witnessed these clashes for 10 years in 90s and still they are fighting.

In this new wave of clashes against KSA forces, the Sunni and shia are united. They are fighting because they don't have jobs, freedom basic human rights. Don't forget that being a Salfi means you will get job, right, freedom in KSA.

Bahrain: Khalifa family don't hire any Shia for government jobs, not even in forces, hospitals, police, courts etc. That why they are fighting.

As far as political issues are concerned, I have no sympathies with current Saudi Ruler. But from religious point of view, these rulers have done incredible job by keeping the Holy Land clean of all kind of biddat and SHIRK which is widely spread in Pakistan and other Islamic countries.

I will pray to Allah may Allah give hidayat to current Saudi rulers to rule their country with the spirit of Islam. And may they leave thier Lavish life style and serve the country in the same way as example set by Khalifa Rashideen (Aameen).

It is very easy for Allah to replace them with different rulers who will continue to keep the Land of Islam free of Biddat and Shirk and still serve the country with true Spirit of Islam.

All these pictures of protests, rallies, and congregations are fake and home made for propaganda to stir up troubles in Saudi Arabia just like Mubarak fell because powerful propaganda machinery of western news and youtube.

What is democracy? What country has democracy? NO COUNTRY
Democracy is a name invented by free mason to camouflage the vices that they want to be instituted in all societies specially in Muslim countries. Their definition of democracy is ' do bad things as much as you can and govt should stay out'

My definition of democracy: If people have food on table, electricity to burn, car (or public transport) to go work in, gasoline to fill up tank with at cheaper rate, clean water to drink, safe to travel, no drone attacks, suicide bombings, WE HAVE DEMOCRACY.

US has democracy? NOT. Its the people's convenience that they cherish. Can a Muslim stand up on media and call Israel a 'terrorist country', or 'Dump Israel and be friends with Muslims, you will benefit'?? Go ahead try it and see how far you get. Probably 5 years in Cuban prison.

India has democracy? NOT. Over 437 million people are suffering with acute poverty but the political elite are stashing 100's millions of $.

By my definition, Saudis have perfect democracy. They are well fed (so much that they waste), lights all over no load shedding, cars, high techs, AC, and all the wonderful things of life. Who the f*** cares who is ruling Abdullah or Nasrullah?

Some brothers on this forum appear to be jubilant that there is news (real or fake) about 'democracy' uprising in KSA.

Be Warned! That democracy uprising, if all the news is really true, is very harmful to Saudi in particular and Ummah in general. If Free Masonicism (=Democracy) is adopted in Saudia, rest assure that Mecca/Medina will be turned into a center of sharab, ran di baazi, night clubs, drugs, murders, riba, har ami children, and all sanctity of the holy places will disappear overnight. I am sure Christians, Jewish, and secular forces are just sitting on top of trees like hawks posing to soop down in a heartbeat to our holy places to take over and do harm to the rauza-e-rasul pbuh and the house (kaaba)

So brothers and sisters, before you go all jumping in jubilation about possible democracy in KSA, STOP and think deep, what are you wishing for.

I hope that Saudis brutally crush all the Free Mason agent protesters, if they exist, and cleanse the Saudia from the shayateen for we love Mecca and Medina. Ameen
