Wapda ex-chief Muzammil Hussain skips NAB hearing in $753m scam​

LAHORE: Former Water and Power Development Agency (Wapda) chairman retired Lt-Gen Muzammil Hussain skipped the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)’s hearing on Monday in a hydro power project scam.
The ex-general is accused of causing a loss to the national kitty to the tune of $753 million in the extension-IV hydro power project at Tarbela Dam.
In a call-up notice to Mr Hussain, the NAB says there are allegations against him of misuse of authority and misappropriation of the government funds in the extension-IV hydro power project at Tarbela Dam, which caused a $753m loss to the national kitty.

FIA summons ex Chairman WAPDA General (r) Muzammil in Rs1454m corruption case​

FIA’s anti-corruption circle Lahore region has summoned former Chairman WAPDA lieutenant general (r) Muzammil Hussain in Rs1454 million corruption case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to Federal Investigation Agency’s notice, former chairman WAPDA was asked to appear personally before FIA’s anti-corruption circle Lahore on March 22.
Lieutenant General (r) Muzammil Hussain was directed by FIA to clear his position with record and proofs. He is accused of giving undue favour to the contractor of Kyal Khar Hydropower Project.
According to notice, inquiry was registered against Muzammil Hussain on the complaint of Transparency International Pakistan. During his tenure as chairman, WAPDA faced over 1454 million rupees loss to the national exchequer.

Sale of embassy building in Jakarta: Diplomat punished for pointing out irregularity​

ISLAMABAD, Aug 10: The widow of a career diplomat, who was punished for pointing out irregularities in the sale of buildings of Pakistan embassy in Jakarta in 2001, is still waiting for justice.

Mr S.M.H. Razvi, who was the head of chancery at the embassy, was sent back to Pakistan and made an OSD in 2002 for allegedly taking the matter to the press. He died in April last year after retiring from service in 2008.

Major General (retd) Syed Mustafa Anwar Hussain, then ambassador of Pakistan to Indonesia, allegedly sold the residence and chancery buildings of the embassy for $3.19 million without following rules and regulations.
