Naked girls plough fields for rain!



Farmers in Bihar have asked their unmarried daughters to plough parched fields naked in a bid to embarrass the weather gods to bring some badly needed monsoon rain, officials said on Thursday.



Witnesses said the naked girls in Bihar state ploughed the fields and chanted ancient hymns after sunset to invoke the gods. They said elderly village women helped the girls drag the ploughs.



"They (villagers) believe their acts would get the weather gods badly embarrassed, who in turn would ensure bumper crops by sending rains," Upendra Kumar, a village council official, said from Bihar's remote Banke Bazaar town.



"This is the most trusted social custom in the area and the villagers have vowed to continue this practice until it rains very heavily."

There are so many unorthodox practices that are followed in every country. So what is so big about this practice that was undertaken by the them. They are illiterates but why are you thinking and behaving like them. They even get the frogs married for pleasing the rain gods. These are medieval practice that are been followed by them for generations.

Nothing is going to happen. When it has to rain it will rain whether you wear cloths and plough the field or plough it naked.

How do you know that these girls volunteered and were not forced to do it?
Were the girls picked from each cast or only from the lower casts?
Who picked up these girls for this activity? People from all the casts or just the high cast men who wanted to se them naked?
Would females from your family opt to perform shuch a worship? Would you just "move on" if they are forcefully selected for such a worship?
What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
Respect all the women not your acquaintances only.

If people had not intervened in the past, widows would be still burning alive with their dead husbands in India and Scandinavia.

BTW you are right about one can do anything in India. However, the Sikh and Muslims of India would beg to differ with you on "as long as you don't harm or diturb others."

Sikhs can write volumes on the atrocities performd by the congress party on them. The party did whatever it wanted to do with the sikhs but I think it did harm and disturb them a tiny bit. It was only a matter of few thousands sikhs getting harmed and disturbed.

Mulims have also been a target of BJP.

However, don't get me wrong. One can still do what ever he/she wants to, in India, as long as one is in power and belongs to Hindu majority.

If Blochistan can declare Independence It will easier for Sindh to achieve their goal.

I myself a minorities, is well to do in india, india is a free land you can do anything and achieve any thing, only thing is that you have to work hard, Modi, APJ Abdul Kalam, Manmohan Singh are just few prominent examples all of them came from normal families. but if you just keep crying no body will do anything for you.

I will give you another example just forget India it has many problems, lets take USA and for that sake lets take Muslims from India and Pakistan in USA Indian Muslims are more progressive and well to do compare to Pakistani Muslims. Do you think USA is giving favor to Muslims from INDIA and not to Pakistani Muslims. Its just positive thinking buddy its just positive thinking. there is no shadow at the top. When I am saying this I am only counting Punjabis, because you are sucking the resources of Sindhi, Baloach and Pathans so you are not letting them to grow. Otherwise these guys are very progressive you will know their potential once they get the independence from you punjabis.

Well India has nothing to do with that. This you discuss with Sindhi and Balachi residents. But only problem is that Punjabi army is not dying its killing Baloch, Pathans, and Sindhis.
