I was in Pakistan for three weeks and came back to Manchester last week. There are few things I observed in Pakistan that didn't make sense to me.
1. Electricity is supplied by the govt there and prices are set by federal govt. Why private sector doesn't provide electricity and gas there like UK. That would ensure price competition and more investment to fulfil demand. They produce electricity and supply to consumers. Its them who recover bills not the govt that fails to recover bills resulting in circular debt in hundreds of billions.
2. It was funny to see PM announcing reduction in oil prices. Big adverts were all over national papers on tax payers expense. Again Why govt is controling oil prices and supplies in this day and age. Why not have private firms like Shell etc import oil and let the free market dictate prices to ensure best deal for consumer.
Will someone enlighten me on these questions.
