LAHORE: Enver Baig, a former senator and one of the closest aides of PPP slain chairperson Benazir Bhutto, is likely to change his loyalty towards the PPP due to his serious differences with the party leadership, The News has learnt.

The PPP leader, who attended a meeting of the TEVTA, chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, as a special invitee, also had a one-on-one meeting with the chief minister. He expressed serious concerns over bad governance and delay in implementation of the Charter of Democracy, signed by late Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif.

When contacted, Enver Baig confirmed his meeting with the Punjab chief minister and said he did not attend the meeting as an envoy of the president or the prime minister. When asked if he could join the PML-N, Baig said: No comment.

He said the people had a lot of expectations from the PPP, which had always represented the masses. But, unfortunately, disappointment and sense of uncertainty was on the rise among the people, who wanted the government to deliver, he added.

Baig said in case the PPP government was dismissed, corruption scandals and failure to deliver would be the main reasons for it. It is shameful that the people have to wait for hours in long queues to get flour, said Baig, while commenting on the performance of the PPP government.

The former parliamentarian, who remained in close circles of late Benazir Bhutto during her life and also handled important diplomatic assignments during that period, was not only refused a Senate ticket, but also cornered like some other Benazir Bhutto aides in the Asif Ali Zardari-led PPP.

The annoyed PPP leader, who hails from the Jhelum district, had held some meetings with the PML-N bigwigs in the recent past, and his second meeting with Shahbaz Sharif has brightened the chances of his joining the PML-N.

I feel so sad to see the ONLY National Party in Pakistan (PPP) break, all because of one idiot, Asif Zardari. If Zardari manages to complete 5 years in office, PPP will break completely and will become a Sindhi party instead of national party. Then Pakistan would have a Punjabi party (PML-N), Sindhi Party (PPP), Pushtoon Party (ANP) and Urdu Speaking Party (MQM) but NO National party. Its so sad and unfortunate for our country...

PPP, PML-N.... What difference does it make? Both parties are corrupt and both are working against the interest of Pakistan. Ek CHOR pehli chor party ko chorre kar doosri chor party mein ja raha hai. it does not make any difference.

These political party remind me of WWE wrestling. In wrestling, its all NOORA KUSHTI, wrestlers beat the crap out of each other in front of public, but in actual life they all are best friends. Same goes for our political parties, they just fight in front of public but in reality, they all are working on the same agenda that how can they make more and more money for them selves through corruption, when they come in power.
